If the governor has been significantly reworked, what are the default gains etc for a 450 size model?

Thanks, Paul

Should be easy enough to check for yourself. Load up the software in demo mode, set it up for a 450 and go into the advanced options to see the default gains.

It's all zeros. When I move the overall gain to the "recommended" 50% all the other values remain at zero.

I'm at work currently so I cannot hook up to my 450 to see what the defaults would be for my setup right now but I will be happy to share my governor settings if that will help you any.
When I get home this evening I will default my setup and see what the values are after default and share on here for you

That's interesting, that means the defaults in the software are not the same as the defaults in the firmware. I guess you'd need to back up your configuration, restore the Ikon to defaults, set it back up with your desired configuration, review the resultant default settings and finally restore the backed up configuration to the Ikon. Or just let mamartin do it for you...even simpler.

Unfortunately, demo loads zero values for everything. You can get to see the defaults for just about everything by punching model size and flying style setup except what is in common governor section. Be nice if they could change that. I'm pretty sure the default gov gains are common to all model sizes and flying styles. mamartin's settings will a whole lot closer to what you need than the defaults.

If you have a saved file with all defaults, you can load it in Demo Mode. Just don't have your FBL connected and close the program before connecting your FBL. It's a nice feature to be able to pull-up and view old configurations without actually altering your FBLs settings/parameters.

I've tried defaulting several different ways tonight and I can't get it to change the gov values from what I had already posted earlier.
I know there is a way, cause I've done this before. I'm having a moment
Will figure this out and get back with you

Default Governor settings

Hi all,

today i changed my governor Settings to following Parameters.

Heli: HD500
Motor: Hacker Turnado V3
ESC: Master Mezon 120 rpm

RPM1: 2100
RPM2: 2200
RPM3: 2300

P: 60
I: 40
D: 60
PITCH GAIN 20
CYCLIC GAIN 8
TAIL GAIN 1

The old Settings were:

P: 55
I: 40
D: 60
PITCH GAIN 11
CYCLIC GAIN 8
TAIL GAIN 1

The problem was a little bogging by 2100 RPM, all other RPM's were fine.
Now it's almost OK but now there is a little overspeed at higher RPM's.

My suggestion is in a further Firmware to have these parameters individual for each RPM.

Regards
Marco

Bump.

This should probably be a sticky. There's too much good information in this thread for it to get pushed down into oblivion. Since there is already a thread in the stickies for the previous firmware update it only make sense this one should be there too.

Default New Parameters Governor

Hi all,

after testing intensively over the weekend, i increased the values to
the following setup.

Heli: HD500
Motor: Hacker Turnado V3
ESC: Master Mezon 120 rpm

RPM1: 2100
RPM2: 2200
RPM3: 2300

P: 65
I: 40
D: 60
PITCH GAIN 28
CYCLIC GAIN 20
TAIL GAIN 5

I also tried Pitch Gain 30 but in this config the heli (blades) sounds terrible
after a hard pitch input and suddendly release of it.
That means the blades may have a resonace then with 0 pitch and perhaps the one way bearing is open. But only an assumption.

So i decreased the pitch gain to 28 and now i feel very convenient.

Regards
Marco

Decided to standardize my fleet to Ikon/Brain. Running them in my 6HVU and Warp 360 right now with new firmware, and have a micro Ikon on pre-order for my 180CFX. I am so pleased with the Ikon/Brain. I was running a different big name FBL system on my Warp and couldn't get the tail stops dialed in no matter what, it was very frustrating. I threw an Ikon on there and it was perfect with the stock settings.

New firmware seems great. I don't think I fly hard enough to really put it to the test, but always happy to see improvements and new settings to play with. Not really related to the new firmware, but I switched my agility from 30 to 90 on both machines and it's made a huge difference. I like the feel a lot better. The low agility felt right when I was learning to hover and orientation, but now that I am actually starting to pyro flip and do other multiple axis moves the high agility is much more natural feeling.

I'm about to build a DT700 and Only Fine Helis has combos that include an iKon, so I might give one a try after having only used VBars.

I've had occasional issues with my present and past helis, especially if there's any significant wind, where the tail will essentially stall when rotating into the wind. In most cases, it's not a frequent occurrence and I suspect the cause is a combination of wind and collective or cyclic pitch. I've made a number of settings changes that help, but the issue never goes away completely. I noticed that one item mentioned on the first page of this thread is "tail drag compensation". Does that feature address this issue?

Also, is there a chance that iOS could be supported over BlueTooth 4.0 Low Energy in the future? Unlike standard BT SPP, BLE serial has no licensing restrictions and requires no specialized hardware other than a BT 4.0-compliant adapter. Range is not sufficient for in-flight changes, but it would work fine for changes on the ground.
