Well, I need to modify the battery tray because I bought my 500CF (ESP) with a 3300 30c blue Turnigy. I had a hard time to set it under the canopy so o did the mod, 3000mAh 30c and 40c now fit without rubbing the canopy, they tended to rub the corners and get the internal sealing exposed, something I didn't like with the unmodified battery tray

That should be a solid bird for you. I have a trex 500esp converted to fbl. Still have the same ds510/520 servos in it, but switched to a Scorpy and CC esc once my Align motor gave up the ghost a couple years ago, oh and I also switched to the pro tail grips because I couldn't find a tail hub for it anymore. This is the Heli I always go back to and I have had a few newer birds, first bigger heli purchased and been flying it for 5 years, have fun with your new bird!

I have this exact same Trex 500 .

My favourite heli & still FB. I've just added some upgrade metal bits & a Co Pilot II.

I was going to put all the guts in a scale fuse, but decided I like it just as it is.

The Trex 500 is perfect. Not too big, not too small I reckon.

I have two of the older style 500 ESPs that I have been flying for 5 years. They were my learning helis. Both of them have been converted to DFC FBL and I am using the standard 510s on one and 510MGs on the other. I haven't seen any issues at all with the servos.

I have also been using the stock Align ESCs and have had no issues with them either. I did switch out the motors to Hyperions when I first built them, so I can't comment on the stock motor.

I flew one with the flybar for about a year, then decided to change it over to FBL, and both have been modified with the DFC conversion. All things considered, they have been as good a heli as any I have owned.
