Default Worth it?

Hi,

I currently have an Outrage 550, Fusion 50 and I'm building a Velocity 50 N2. I'm kinda enamored with the idea of getting a G5 now to have a near complete set of Outrage helis. I understand it's no longer made. I understand that the parts supply is likely to dry up soon. It doesn't look like anyone is making any 6S 1300 lipos, so I would be limited to 3S or 4S. It appears that rchover.com and completeheli.com are still selling kits.

Is the G5 worth getting?

Honestly it's one one of the best 450s I've ever owned. Right now in my fleet I have 3 complete g5 and still looking to add to my collection. Part is drying up but still worth the hassle of looking. Getting lipo is not a problem

Plenty of 6S 1300mAh LiPo batteries out there:

If these don't work for you, there is always the option to hook 2 3S 1300mAh batteries in series. Plenty of those as well.

Doh! I should have thought of the 2 x 3S option. I limited my search too much on hobbyking and hobbypartz. A wider search would have revealed those batteries.

Thanks guys.

I've had the worst 450 experience with my G5. Never flew right from day one. I have slop in the main grips (spacers are too thin). I have vibration coming from the tail ( i changed just about everything in the tail). The whole thing just vibrates like crazy when going above 2700 RPM HS.

PM me you can have mine cheap!

Yep.
One of the nice things about the 450+ size is the combination of compact size and low head speed. It's small enough to be a park flyer, but has the smooth handling and quieter power of a larger helicopter. I fly mine right at 2400 and it is a joy to fly.

Not sure what gearing you were using, but the tail is only rated to 12K...i image with headspeeds that much over spec it would vibrate something fierce.

I know the manual says to run low HS and mentions a tail RPM limit. I expected this type of performance

you easily get this performance at the lower hs. make sure you run run the 360mm blades and not 325s as that makes all the difference in the world
