SCORPION 4035-500KV?
Hey guys, was flying today and all of sudden the heli just went dead like a loss of power, I managed to auto it down. while taking the canopy off I smelled a faint burn smell. I could turn the head clockwise but not counter clockwise. I then backed the motor from the main gear and found that I could not turn the motor. has anyone had this happen and if so what is the problem? setup-rush 750, cc 120 edge hv, sk 540. scorpion 4035-500kv motor. Can't get any response in the scorpion forum

You pulled the motor and it's not spinning properly?
Disassemble the motor and inspect it. Blown bearings or a dropped magnet could be the problem. Take the 10 minutes to pull it apart to find out. maintenance kits are reasonably priced: http://www.scorpionsystem.com/catalo...tenance_kit_1/ Bearings themselves are even more so: http://innov8tivedesigns.com/scorpio...35-bearing-kit If the magnet came loose, you'll have to send it back to Scorpion for repair/replacement. |

thanks guys for the quick replys. I took it apart and found a bad bearing. replaced the bearings and it spins freely now. what has me puzzled now is after I got the motor reinstalled I turned on tx, plugged in 2s flight pack for electronics, plugged in batteries for esc/motor I got smoke. if I take the motor out let it hang to the side plug everything in I can spool up no apparent problem but when I put it back in I have issues. very weird. is there a way for me to check to see if the esc is shot?
