I'm not sure if this has been talked about yet but how will this thing perform swinging the 766 on 12s? Not looking for crazy smack but just a decent sport flier.

It handles 12s great! Both of my setups will be 12s.

Mine will be:
766 naked boom
Scorpion 4526-520 F3C
Castle edge 160
BEC pro
Futaba servos
Vbar neo
Rail 716/116

806 /w boom cover
scorpion 4530-500le
Caste edge 160
BEC pro
Futaba servos
Vbar neo
Rail 806/116

Riding back from Orlando, still thinking about my setup. I was set on running it as a 716, but leaning towards the 766 now.

Scorpion Ultimate 4525-520 Ultimate
BK 7002HV cyclic
BK 8005 tail
MSH Brain
Castle Edge 160
Rail blades
Boom cover most likely
12s

Thinking about 1850-2033 headspeed

I haven't thought too much about it but I might set one up for F3C. Would be nice to have a 3 blade option but maybe I can graft one on to it. The boom cover, adjustable tail ratios, progressive head damping might make it a good candidate for competitive F3C flying.

I know that it has only been flown on 12s. It has been flown in all 3 configurations, 716, 766 and 806 with the Scorpion 4525-520 motor and a castle 160 ESC. I have seen some castle graphs that were a bit surprising(in a good way) given the size of the disk. That being said; I will still be running both of mine in a 14s configuration. I'm very indecisive when it comes to the ESC but I know it won't be a Kontronik or a castle(no 14s support). Scorpion maybe, King Kong III Pro maybe or a YGE, I just don't know yet. I would like to not waste time and go for something 200a which rules out the Scorpion. One ship will run 766s and the other will run as an 806. One of them will also have the boom wrap but I am indecisive here as to which one will get it.

Once I decide on the ESC both of mine will be setup the same:
Scorpion 4535-500 LE
Futaba CGY750
Futaba 9352 Cyclic servos
Futaba BLS274SV tail
Futaba R7003SB Rec.
14s 4400mAh packs 40c-50c depending on the cells I end up with....

All we know at this point is that it will be this year. We won't have a date until the design is 100% complete and bug tested. Matt is flying the crap out of it in various situations. I know the wait is grueling, but this process is why Matt doesn't have a ton of second revision parts and bug fixes.

Do you and any of the Team know, has Matt had to change anything from when he first flew it to make something better or perform differently? I'm curious on the whole process and how it progresses from thought to CAD to prototype to production, so if you can elaborate on anything, my inquizitive mind would like to know.

From the very first prototype model? I am sure things have changed, been tweaked and updated. As for any changes since the announcement at IRCHA, I don't believe so. Just bug testing and flight testing!
