Yes the engine is much heavier than an os55, a 600 nitro comes in around 7 lbs while my conversion is sitting 1.5lbs heavier.

I believe the power output of both the 90 and 600 are the same but don't quote me on it.

They are two different engines. As far as I've read the output shaft of the new one is sized for 600/50 size fan/clutches.

I used the OS conversion kit.

Final weigh in.... 4000 grams on the dot (8.81lbs!), with a full tank of gas. She's a fatty.

However, my friend brought my old fusion 50 over and it weighed in at 3876 grams (8.53 lbs), only 124 grams heavier.

I don't know where can shave 125 grams but that is my goal. I know this is almost sacrilege to say but I almost want to swap out the hatori pipe for the power boost just for the 40 grams.

Anyone have a weight on the helix conversion?

what engine did you use the GT15HZ 600? or the older one for a 90 size heli.

im thinking of going with the heli bug 550 convertion because it is 8lbs ready to fly.

It's heavier than the OS 55 so is it going to feel just as power full?

I used the 600 version, as the conversion uses a 600 fan hub.

Rcjapan.net is where I purchased the engine, pipe and conversion. I have yet to fly the heli.

On a positive note I weighed my friends n5c (nitro) with a full tank of fuel. It came in at 3880 grams, also 120 grams lighter than my conversion. Not bad.

I was thinking of doing the same thing. It looks like I'll be able to get all the the required parts from amainhobbies, and the engine complete with everything from towerhobbies.

Can you elaborate on your experience? What do you think of everything? If you have any suggestions on anywhere else I can get the parts, or a good place to buy the 550 kit, I would love to hear them.
