HW120HV governor better than no governor?
I am about to install beastx and HW120HV on my 7hv and the only oportunity i have to use governor is to use the one on the esc.
Is that better than no governor? Or should i stick with u-curves on my transmitter?

Try it
Why not find out yourself?
Some people have good results, some less. When my new build is done, I'm going to try myself and see how it goes.

Sometimes it takes a while to know whether a setting actually works "nice" instead of just "different", i guess thats why the op was asking for the opinion of anyone who's tried it for a while.
If the gov is like the 40amp version, then personally i think its better than no gov. Its a slow responding gov with about 1sec delay, so in hard maneuvres te heli feels more like a flat curve and rpm bog. However the gov will set the "flat curve" to keep a consistent median rpm from start to finish. |

I've used HW Governor mode on both the Platinum 120HV and the Platinum 100amp (LV).
They work fine, not as sweet as a Jive (at nearly 4x the price) but useable. But then, setting a curve and running without governor works too as long as you set it up right. Any motor will load up if you hammer the heli hard. It shouldn't be an issue unless you're marginal on motor or ESC power handling. |

What about an external gov - the HW are supposed to support externals well. I bought a HW to use with an external - V-Bar or SK720 will do it.

I ran same thing HW120hv on 7Hv with AlignMx510kv 14t pinion on high gov mode it got hot as all heck so I put the 13t pinion back on still messing around with settings but the ESC is comming down cooler so I would not use a 14t pinion
