The Edge series is a huge improvement over ICE. Unless you get it for almost nothing I would not buy an ICE.

If you don’t have a receipt from a store you won’t get warranty repair. The ICE series was discontinued two years ago. If it was under a valid warranty and it was a total burnout they would replace with a new Edge 160. If you want to trade it in for an Edge 160 it will cost you 1/2 the retail price of the Edge 160. You cal call Tech Support for advice – that would probably be a good idea before you buy.

The ice is fine if you don't care about having an external governor. That's the main difference. It's still a fine esc.

My main complaint about the ICE HV series it was pone to fires. The Edge hardware was redesigned to solve that problem. The last ICE production run was much better so if you do get the ICE make sure it’s the latest production run. They have a date code so you can contact Tech Support to see if it’s safe to fly or needs an upgrade.

The fire problem was fixed with the Ice2 series. As long as the ESC says Ice2 on the label, you're OK.

ICE runs fine with ext. gov but you need an external Sensor. I would buy it if it is not too expensive. Never got an issue in my 7HV.
