Default Modding PC power supply Help

I'm trying to mod the 12v rail to make it a variable rail from ~5v to Full 12v. How would I do that?

It may be simpler to make seperate voltage lines.
Most PS have seperate 12 and 5 volt lines.
Yellow is typically 12v and red is 5v. Black is ground.
There are other colors. You tube has lots videos.
Test using a multimeter.

Computer power supplies are switch mode supplies. Changing them to a variable supply is not at all practical.

What you can do is use a LM317 linear voltage regulator. You construct a circuit using a few resistors and maybe a cap and a potentiameter, that pot will let you go from 5-12.

But the lm317 is only rated to a few amps so it wont be practical for charging and if you draw too much power it may blow as the 12v rails can dp upwards of 18a depending on the supply.

I belive some people is -12v and +12v and make it variable up to 24. The trade off here is the -12v supply only does up to around 1.5a. So also not good for charging but good for misc use.
