remmember ,
in a regulated carb , when you adjust the needles , you arent really "leaning , or richning " the needles per say ,
its adjusting the pressure to the diaphram (making it open or close dependant on backpressure). and more or less pressure will lean or richen that range needle , opening or closing the diaphram by how much pressure goes through it , and thus by the engine rpm,,
and in a pipe pressure system , the needles are directly reliant on how you turn the needles in or out , making them lean or rich , and of course a bit of back pressure from the pipe, ..
im sure you can google this and find a better explaination,, but what im getting at is, altho the help is good , the help tuning a pipe carb vs a reg fed carb is a bit diffrent , thus producing diffrent results ,, so you must understand how to tune a regulated fed carb, and also making sure there isnt anything making the diaphram stick ( any dirt in the fuel , so a good filter before the regulator is a must and must be cleaned every gallon) , which would cause ti to run rich btw ,

You just said something that I've not considered or even read about, "cleaning the filter every gallon".

I have several gallons through and never touched the filter, other than making sure it's tight. It's the os 3-way filter.

How do I clean it, just replace the filter?

I have opened the regulator and wiped it out before, then read you should never open it, but it had a black oil residue in it..
