Default Which dampers for 2000-2300 w/ FBL, sport flying?

It is my understanding that different dampers like different head speeds. I'm using 2000, 2150, 2300 for IU1, 2, 3. I spend most of my time at 2150.

I've got RJX energy blades and a Spirit FBL. I read somewhere that with an FBL I should be using really stiff dampers, because the FBL is making many small corrections and will do better with a crisper head. Is that true?

I'm currently using th stock black dampers and they appear ok to me, I don't think they're worn yet. I don't get much wiggle when I try and move the blade grips up and down. But I'll need some new ones eventually, so I thought I would start looking now.

If it matters, it's the FES head, not the formula head.

When I had that head, the lime green dampers worked great.

+1 on the lime green.
Softer for sport flying like built in expo, and harder for 3D.
Softer with lower headspeeds, and higher HS for harder dampers.
Most Gaui dampers have a hardness shown , so compare with what you have now.

By the time you need new dampers, the conversation may be very different. I wouldn't spend too much effort on this when other parts are much more likely to need replacement sooner.

Use the hardest ones for your flying style,

Red may have heli wobble during spool up but work well
Green kbdd
black little too soft and wear out fast

I just switched to the blue dampers from the lime green (LG). I'm spinning between 2700-2800 RPM's and get much less flutter/chatter than the lime. Also, I had put a lot of flights on the LG and when I went to take them out there were like mush. I've had no wobble and feel that things are much more crisp than before. I've also switched from the RJX Energy blades to the SAB which I prefer much more. They are slightly heavier and stiffer and better balanced. If you are considering bumping up your head speed, just something to think about.

I use the red ones and I fly IU1 2300 and IU2 2450. Quite happy with how it feels, but I can notice a small wobble/shake at around 2100.

Which engine/pinion do you use?

2700-2800 is immensely high on the X5 isnt it?

Nah, it can handle it. I'm flying 12S with an XNova motor 4025-560kv. Take a look at the 12S thread and you'll see some guys flying at 2900 regularly.

Actually, lime green are about as soft as you can go. They're rated a 65 and black is 75. Blue should be 85 and red 95.
