Enya 50 ss in a Caliber 5
Will this engine work in the Caliber 5? I know the mounting dimensions are the same as OS, but will the crank shaft work with the Cal 5 fan and clutch? I haven't purchased one yet. The reason I am thinking of a not so mainstream engine is, I have a 35 ss that is like 15 years old and still runs strong. I just hovered a tank in my yard today! So that is why I want an Enya 50 ss. The question is will it work.......
Thanks Tom

If the crankshaft thread is different you might want to get a machinist make a different clutch axle for you with the right thread on it. Otherwise I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Every thing is the same as an O.S.. Only the crankshaft is longer, but that is not a problem. Also the engine weighs only 10.8oz, a little weight savings, over the os.
Thanks Tom

I just got done hovering three tanks for break in. The engine is reall smooth and the heli didn't need much trimming. I really like this heli so far. I am curious how much it weighs all together. It seems lighter than my Sceadu 50. Tom

Great to hear that it works Tom. Some people just think that you need the best of the best with 20.000 rpm headspeed etc for best performance.

I flew 4 tanks today. It was about 35 degrees out. The power of the Enya seems about the same as my OS 50 non hyper. I'm still running it rich and it still runs and idles smooth. Tom

Hey Laurens. They are a great value. I like the engine. Do they import them to the Netherlands? Enya has been around a long time, and make a nice product. Maybe they can make an updated version, with a bigger carb opening and a heat sink head, the Enya 50 Hopper

Great to see someone thinking outside the square. Best of luck with your engine choice.

Thanks Kiwiflyer! If the weather changes soon I will fly it again. I can't wait. If anyone is interested, my Club South Jersey Heli Flyers, has a Website: www.sjhflyers.com Tom

That does stink. That is an os hyper right. How many tanks?
