Default Speed canopy and Tenax mounts.

Hi guys. I have loved my Tanax quick mounts on my Goblins the most so far, however those with Speed version know that the canopy is not as flush where the mounts are compared to the standard Goblin, so they engage at a slight angle which can make them a little more tedious sometimes.

I've been using a cheap and easy method to mount the post on the frame which helps with this a lot, and may also work for any of the other mount versions as well.

Instead of mounting the pin portion down flat and tight to the frame, I'm using little neoprene washers as a base between the pin and the frame. These are found easily in any big box or hardware store

This accomplishes two things. First it moves the pins out further depending on how many you use, so the canopy engages easier without being pressed in so far. It also helps with the right servo corner being pressed into the canopy and cracking it. I find three on each side to be the best for the Speed canopy, and about all you can fit on the threaded stud without using a longer one

Secondly, although the mount pin is tight and very secure, there will be some flex in it in all directions, so essentially a semi-rigid mount on a rubber busing.

This flex on the pin allows it to fit the female part much easier and will allow the canopy to snap right on the pins easily without having to tug or force them.

The other canopy mount options can accomplish similar by opening up the hole in the canopy allowing the canopy side to flex around in the rubber grommet, however the Tenax are rigid mounted when tight in the canopy, so this just uses the other side to do the same thing.

i will try thanks. The quick release canopy mounts were pure crap. I wasted money on them only to find out what a hassle they were. The thing with those ball bearing type release mech the joining pieces need to be aligned with each other to freely connect and disconnect and where the hole is in respect to the canopy is not flat so its such a struggle. I ended up grinding down the female connector and got it to "work" but i was not happy with the way it looked so i trashed them.

I just got a new KSE and it comes with the quick release, I thought what a bunch of junk. I was fine with the original screw on ones. But after taking them on and off a few times, they started to work good. I have only had my KSE kit together a few weeks now and the quick release work good now. I did lube them, saw someone post that a while ago. Anyway I do agree they must line up, there needs to be free motion of the canopy, not a lot of bulging wires. The other thing is the new carbon canopy is way lighter and more flexible. The fiberglass ones, I was always afraid I would crack them in the corners, no more

Too late. Lol. I enlarged the hole as much as possible and it helped but the one time that I physically couldn't take off my canopy I trashed them. But I gotta say with the enlarged hole and a larger grommet the stock setup is even better.
