motor for low to high HS?
greetings to all,
i really hope someone can shed some light for me here.. i am building a gaui x7 and want to know what motor to go for for a good mix of low head speed and then with the idle ups, to get a high HS. i really want to know what KV rating is best and BRAND out of scorpion and hacker.. i was about to go for the scorpion 4525-520kv ultimate but was told they are ineficient and run hot and so on, and that i should go for hacker instead, along the lines of a a50 turnado 400-450kv i want around 1100-1200 rpm in low, maybe 1500 in mid and 1800-1900 in high, and also to be using a motor that will give me the longest flight times.. any help/info please |

Look at XNova motors - quiet, efficient and well made.
It is not the motor that affects your required wide speed range, but the ESC. For that you need a motor that will comfortably give you the maximum speed, and a good active freewheeling ESC (like Kontroniks) to allow you to throttle down to low percentages. Most "normal" ESCs like Castle will get hot at low %. RPM = kV x (3.7V x # of cells) x 0.9 (efficiency - most decent large motors are slightly better than this now, but 90% is a good start) x pinion teeth / main gear teeth Colin
