Default Logictech 6100T Gyro Setup Videos

OK this took some time and a few revs for me to get right. Not that this gyro is hard to set up, IT ISNT, but I needed to really get my hands around this thing to bring you all the best information I could!!!

Needless to say this gyro is very good when set up right! In fact now that I have gotten use to it I like it very much..... If I was asked to choose between a GY611 and this gyro I would say 50/50 split. You cant go wrong with this gyro at all.

The bottom line is get it set up right! I hope my videos here help you to do that.

Special thanks to GrandRC for asking me if I would take the time to do this and they supplied me the gyro.

So enough of the mumbo jumbo let get to it!

Part 1: Initial settings on the bench
Sorry for the file size! Lots to cover!
VIDEO -> Initial setup on the bench (97 Megs)

NOTE: Special thanks to HFG for pointing this out as I forgot to mention to readjust your gyro end points if you had to adjust the link in normal mode for no drift.. Adjusting the mechanical link will effect your initial end point settings!
Part 2 : In the field flight setup
VIDEO -> In the field flight setup (35 Megs)

Part 2 : Flight Demo... Hey! I am no hard core 3D pilot but I know a good tail when I fly one
VIDEO -> Flight testing! (30 Megs)

I hope this helps you all!

Wow, i just watched the first 2 setup vids.
The first video explains pretty much all we need and the second vid is really helpful.

Bob, in the 1st you mention 75% expo and the second vid you mention 95% for rate mode setup. Which did you end up using ?

When i return from the US i will try again with these gyros.(i am not used to having to spend so much time on fine tuning but it looks like its worth the effort)

On a side note, the part about mech setup for the tail in rate mode is something i have always done and believe it should be done with all gyro's (even though Fut seems to cope well without)

Another job very well done.

Thanks

Oz... you REALLY dont need to go to that trouble on a 401 or a 611... Trust me! Ask a PRO if they do and you will get a suprise! 3D pilots have no need for rate mode and they want ALL they can get... Trust me it shocked me too and now I never set up for rate mode anymore... It wont hurt you on a 611 to do so since you have end point travel in both directions.... But on a 401, if you want as much tail as you can get, YOU CANT set up that way....
BUT the Logictech MUST be set up that way for best performance... At least I did becasue I was told it works better that way!
LATER I will try to set up CENTER pitch slider and see if it really makes a difference.

I'll tell you what! And this is no BS!

The Raptor E620 on FP 3700 10S packs and this gyro and HV85ESC.... IS A ROCKIN SETUP!

I got to tell you this is a FUN heli!

I would not say this if it was not true! I do like this setup a lot! I just wish the Raptor head was a little faster on cyclic... It is SLOW compared to the Trex600...

HOWEVER..... I am getting a Kasama head from GrandRC to test out. If this head works well... I will let you all know

Cheers!

Bob, thanks for the vids they are great!!

Please set it up for center pitch slider and tell me if it makes a difference. I have this gyro and set it up for center pitch slider because I didn't want to mess with getting rate mode right and it _seems_ to work fine for me, but I'm not a good enough flyer to really test it out.

So if you get a chance test it for us and let us know!

I have really liked this gyro so far on my Trex 600.

why don't you just test it out while setting it in rate mode? saves bob time end gives you better performance

thanks bob for the vid. Didn't really know what smoothness was all about, but understand now.

factory setting was at 7% smoothness and left it just about there. Do you know which settings Henry caldwell is using?

seems like a good gyro but what benefits does this gyro have over the 401/s9254 in terms of performance

maxime, last time I talked to Henry he said he was using 18% and I also found I liked that setting as well. I tried it all the way to 25% and didnt liek the mushy bounce back. I also tried down to 5% and it was way too hard a stop! 12% to 18% seems to be the area that I felt best with. Ths is a feel thing so it's your preference really.

theShark... My opinion so far is that this gyro out performs a 401/9254 hands down. Backwards inverted in the wind is better than a 401. Most people wont see this until they are doing flying backwards.

Now is it as good as a 611? I am not good enough flyer to tell that difference! To me the holding capability seems as good as a 611. However the feel of the rudder stick is different. Not worse or better, just different and you have to get use to that. Expo in rudder is the key to getting the rudder stick to feel good to you. Personally the rudder stick to me seems more sensitive but also more accurate if you get what I mean?

Love the videos bob !! I was wonder that after you adjusted the linkage length to get the heli from drifting in normal mode you need to readjust your end points on the gyro?

Nice vids Bob, It will be interesting to know if you notice a difference in the performance with the pitch slider centered.

When setting pitch slider in rate mode for hover, can you do it in normal mode or do you have to do it in idle up? Reason I ask is the rate mode center may be different when you're in idle up - which is where all my flying is done...
