Finally - success flying outdoors
Had some calm air this morning so I ran over to a nearby field. From some posts in this section I had already trimmed the blades and moved the links to the balls with the longer arms. I decided not to set the DX6i to the "novice" settings and just went with everything at 100%. I think the combination of having some open space, the more aggressive settings on the TX and helicopter all added up to make this a pretty successful couple of flights. Some quick pivots to turn and come back and then some slower coordinated turns.
It was great to get some experience with the FP actually in flight and not just hovering in the garage. The few times I tried it in the back yard I think the lack of space and not being aggressive enough let the wind just push me around. Now I just need to get comfortable flying around and picking up some speed. Then on to CP. |

Fantastic, glad to hear you got it sorted, outside with plenty of room just feels so much better. I always freaked out in my garage,i was to busy watching what i could hit and then did . If you ever think you may go on to a c/p heli learn to use throttle hold dont slam throttle down, really hard to un learn.

Good point. I enabled TH on the profile for my MCX2. Starting to practice hitting the TH switch when I land. I don't have many panic moments on the MCX2 anymore that require a quick throttle cut. Still have plenty of those with the 120 SR.
