Tail swinging right?

Hey all,

The tail swinging heaps right when i take off. I will correct it and bring it back around but when i centre rudder stick it just starts swinging right again pretty quickly. Tail servo is centered fine and it's not a FBL setting. Am I correct in thinking this may be some bearing on the tail end that's shot or something?

Is your tail mechanically smooth in the whole range of motion?

It sure is, maybe I should do a re-setup of the tail in the FBL software?

That would be the first thing I would try. Get both your servo and tail slider perfectly centered and try if it helps. If it doesn't help, check tail grip bearings. It's not common, but I have seen them "lock" when spooled on other helis causing similar behavior.

Thanks mate. I've gone through and set the tail up again via the FBL so ill test it tomorrow and see how it goes. If its still the same ill inspect the bearings

Sounds a gyro/fbl issue to me.

I had the same thing once when I had the tail gain channel backwards, was in rate mode instead of head holding.

You should have a steady tail when in rate mode first before you setup the gyro/FBL in heading hold mode.

Lift off the ground into a steady hover and extend/shorten your links until your tail holds while not in holding hold mode. Then when that's mechanically setup correctly, your gyro will be a LOT more effective.

Thanks guys I did a re-setup of the tail in the FBL and its back to normal, weird. I actually think it's holding a lot better than it was before too
