Default FB blades on FBL setup. Big deal?

^^
I'm running 710 fb blades on my new FBL setup, and having massive problems that I can't figure out. I was in the thought that the only difference is the blade CG. Is that true? Or wil FB blades on a FBL head cause all sorts of problems?

Shouldn't cause problems. Fbl are a bit more then just cg, the weight on the chord is a different location.

I've put edge fbl on my 450 and 600. Compared to the align fb blades they felt alot more stable in all aspects of flight. The fb felt a bit more "wild". I was also able to up the gain a bit with the edge blades.

It's hard to describe so if you can ask a buddy to borrow a set of blades and give then a try. It's no different then trying different fb blades. They all fly different, but the true feeling they give can't be described properly with words.

Generally speaking, no FB baldes won't cause major problems. Yes, the bigger the blade the more the effect. Yes, 450 guys run FB blades with no problems - I do and know others that do. That being said... did you do the simple stuff like check balance and blade set-up. New blades can move the geometery a tad. I actually spaced out once and put a blade on backwards - go it on the test bench though. Measure the new blades against one another. It's very rare but a mis-match may have slipped by.

You might get better answers if you list and describe your problems.

Has anyone tested the stiffness of the fbl blades? Both "wing load" and torsion?

Kind of a stupid Q now that I think about more, but I'm thinking stiffness would be beneficial to all blades, but still subscribe to the fly what works for you philosophy.

So you guys are flying FB blades on FBL with no issue? Reason I ask is a lot of the align FB blades for my t-rex 500 are significantly cheaper than their new "3G" blades. Currently I'm running EDGE blades but I just think they're worth the money. You guys haven't experienced any kind of issues? I might buy a set just to see if I can feel a major difference.

I purchased an align 500 pro fb heli and converted it to dfc fbl.I purchased a new set of align 3g blades and honestly there the same thing except for the 3g emblem.Maybe they goofed idk but I pute the 3g and regular blade on the ballancer and they both ballance the same and there cg is also the same?Fbl blades are supposed to be a little hevier and the weight should be out a bit more for more stabilization and a more solid rotation geomitry so you dont over work your servos and you can dial in the gyros gain more precisely I believe.
PS.on my 450 I am running thunder power blades 330mm and they work great.

Using Edge FB blades on my Trex 700 fbl with zero issues. Tried fbl blades and absolutely hated them. So there's a little info on a bigger machine.

I wouldn't even try it on 700 size. I didn't see nay difference on my 450, either fb or fbl, but on my Protos 500 fbl, if I put fb blade, it shakes like hell. Even I balanced really good, but still makes very unpredictable on the air. It fly, but make very unpleasant and put lot stress on heli. That's why one of my servo burned.

The SmackTalk Rotor Blades video discusses FBL vs FB blades.

after reading the vstabi article and learning the differences between blades and balancing along with COG that helps determine how a blade is going to react . i`ve noticed that that brass sleeve that the bolt goes thru doesnt seem to be an issue ? that distance from where it is inserted to the tip of the blade.

I`m very new to the rc heli world .

Just over a year ago I had a Custom Heli Parts DL 700e and I ran it with the Futaba 750 and actually preferred the Edge 693 FB blades over the FBL blades. It has a more connected feel and made the heli track better I thought.
