Default New Year Continuation

Hello everyone I just got done reading all 204 pages. All I can say is wow!

Nightflyr I would like to ask some questions.

1) When you created your field case and you showed the power supplies you are using. I can not find the page again but are they computer supplies. If they are how is it that you can wire them for 24 vdc and not have one supply isolated from the other. Could you point me in the right direction so I can find out more about them.

2) I believe it is on your 1000 you show a video were you have two switches. You turn on the BEC and then you have the spark arrest switch and a resistor. Do you have a wiring diagram for that set up?

Thank you for all of your help and all of this useful information you have posted.

I hope every one had a nice and safe New Year!

Yes, 4 Feathermerchant 12V 47A supplies

If they are how is it that you can wire them for 24 vdc and not have one supply isolated from the other.
One of each set of supplies are isolated, I used G-10 spacers along with Nylon packing tape between each set of supplies. I also cut the ground lead from one of each set of power leads

Could you point me in the right direction so I can find out more about them.

2) I believe it is on your 1000 you show a video were you have two switches. You turn on the BEC and then you have the spark arrest switch and a resistor. Do you have a wiring diagram for that set up?
The wiring for the anti-spark is quite simple...
From the NEG ( - ) off the ESC you will run a separate lead wire that get connected to the anti-spark resistor, the other end of the resistor goes to one side of a N/O momentary switch, The other side of the switch will wire into the NEG ( - ) of your main battery.

Once done, you will plug in the POS ( + ) of your battery to your ESC....
Once connected, switch the anti-spark on to charge up the caps of your ESC.
Release the momentary switch and connect your NEG ( - ) battery lead to your ESC with out having a massive spark.

One item to note..
Use a set of bullet connectors between the anti-spark and the main battery pack, so that you can disconnect and remove the flight battery(s) for charging.

Thank you for all of your help and all of this useful information you have posted.

I hope every one had a nice and safe New Year!

Rumors that the "Lab" has gone still.. have been grossly exaggerated..

It was time to get back to some basics...

And working on a little surprise.....

If night is building it, I strongly suspect there will be a surprise or two "under the bonnet". Great to see the lab active in time for Spring.

After a clean up of the "lab"....
It turned out that there were more than a few projects that were forgotten about.
With more than enough electronics floating around and spares that could resupply a dealer.
Thought I would kick it " old school "

The surprise has yet to be revealed.. but trust me.. more than a few may well be kicking themselves for what's to come...

Default It LIVES, Igor! It LIVES!!!

I had a great morning. Just performed the maiden of install of NazaH GPS in my TRex 550 FBL. It works! Took it up to about 50 feet and switched on the GPS. It just stayed where it was at, hands free. Everything worked as it should. All is good!

The hard part is letting go of the sticks, flicking that switch, and hoping the guy on the other side of the world is happy with his wages! Though it does not take long to build confidence in the product.

Ah, you know that moment! That twinge of gut-wrenching fear when the sticks are released. I figure after they made the first dozen of these units, "the guy on the other side of the world" was replaced by a robotic assembly process.

You are correct about letting go of the sticks. It is counter intuitive to everything I know about flying helis. I took the heli out this morning and went through eight lipos. As soon as you flick that switch and see the heli have that little twitch, you know all is good. One does tend to gain faith in these embedded systems. The NazaH/GPS first got my attention when Night started commenting about it. I figured if he was using it in his aircraft, the system was worth serious consideration. Today my faith was confirmed when I flew almost an entire lipo in various forms of nose-in hover. I was completely relaxed for the entire process. Normally for me that is at best a four second white knuckle process.
