Default TIpy on ground with multi blade head

I have ordered a HeliArtist AS350 body for my Trex 450 PRO. I am looking forward to painting it and working on it. I have a three blade head and blades from another delayed project, I want to use it, the heli is already FBL, but somehow I am nervous about going to a multi blade head on my main bird. I figure I have it so I might as well try it out, I can always put the two blade FBL head back on if I want.

So, I put it on and did a little test flight. She wants to tip over on the ground. In the air she seemed to fly OK, so this made me wonder what was making this happen. Any ideas? I have set the blade phasing mechanicaly and am using a Tarot ZYX FBL unit.

OK, I fixed the tracking and all is well. Must have been some vibration messing with the FBL unit.

G'Day mate. It seems that the tippy "thing" may be common to multi balde heads.
I have three, four and five blade set ups on some of my 450 fuse's and they all seem to exhibit this tendancy just before lift-off and landing.

Now I do not have estab on any of my helis so I assumed it was just 'the way things are' with non estab birds. I just learned to change my lift off procedure. When I detect that it is light on the skids I just punch the collective to get it flying and bingo steady as a rock.

It's the same with landing. If I try to land real gentle the things get all wobbly and want to tip over. So I get the bird to touchdown and drop the stick quick to go negative and all is well. I must endeavour to install my CopterX 3 axis gyro in one of my birds but have not yet figured it all out.

I too have a Heli Artist AS360 waiting my attention. Gunna put a HK mongrel in it with a TT conversion just for laughs.

The pic is a local heli that I would like to copy.

All the best with your project.

Thanks. I got the body today. It is missing part of the landing gear. I emailed Helidirect and hope they can do something. I imagine I could make the missing part, but I want to try getting the correct part.
