so i cant confirm right now, but i believe in the ikon software youll have the chance to setup cyclic bank to an aux or gear and then youll want to go in the tx and assign that aux or gear channel to any switch of ur pref, no right or wrong. once you have the switch working in the software you should be able to see selected cyclic bank THEN go into each cyclic bank and set the SL and rescue to those banks, Confirm switch is working and you should be able to fly. dont have a way to hook up my ikon so cant confirm but i remember it was mostly like that when i did it. could have a few things off though, triple check!!! and good luck

If you mean the switch for your different headspeeds, I think most people use switch B...at least that is how it is labelled n a DX9. But, that is totally up to you. It is usually done through your gear channel. You can set up rescue and asl onto one of your banks or setups if you like, or you can assign rescue separately on a switch to include your bind switch, which is a momentary switch and works good for activating and then releasing.

Different headspeads is NOT set on gear channel. Never ever. It is on throttle channel, linked to different throttle settings on the different flight modes ( norm, Idle 2 and idle2). Gear channel is usually used for tail gyro on a 7+ channel tx. Use an aux channel for your 3 different setups and for the rescue feature. Don't confuse flight modes with setups.

Yep, you are right about the gear channel. Didn't have my radio with me.

Not really, it's flying just fine but I haven't yet set up the auto leveling function. It's gotten cold and blowy here so flight time is greatly reduced.

This is how I set mine up for the 450x on my DX 9.

Switch A is Self-Level Rescue
Pos 0: 0% Voice "Off".
Pos 1: 65%, Voice "Bailout"
Channel AUX3

Switch G is for the Banks
Pos 0: 100% Bank 1 Voice "Bank 1"
Pos 1: 0% Bank 2 Voice "Bank 2"
Pos 2 -100% Bank 3 Voice "Bank 3"
Channel AUX2

I think that will help get you in the right direction.

New problem, I had this heli flying just fine but the wireing arrangement was pretty ugly and some of you reminded me of it. So I put a CF floor in where there wasn't one before and relocated my iKon box from the upper rear of the frame to the lower floor where the iKon box is just behind where the main shaft would be if it stuck down that far. The ugly wires are now buried inside the frame and the iKon orientation is the same, wires up and to the back. Now I have some tail jumping back and forth. I've tried all tail gain settings between 35 and 50 but it doesn't get better. I've even changed tail servo, samething. Could the position of the iKon be causing this or something mechanical more likely?

The tail is jumping or the servo is jumping around? Have you flown it like this?

Go in and make sure the tail servo "type" and frequency are still what it should be. Also check adjustment in panel 8...or whichever panel it is you adjust tail (at work cant get to the sw).

Have you changed any settings anywhere?

Tail will jump or slide a few degrees one way then a few seconds later the other and yes I've flown it like this. Back and forth but staying a few degrees of the original heading. At first no settings were changed but then I went up and down the gain scale but it didn't get much better. I changed to a different servo and changed the setting to go with the new servo but no change in result.

Try a slightly higher headspeed, looks like the tail does not have enough authority and it's hunting. Or slightly bigger tail blades.

Actually I would have thought about the servo not being fast enough, but if you tried multiple ones...

Just for SAG try setting the tail servo to analog instead of digital if your FBL allows that. I think Ikon does. I know VBar will.

Holy crap .. I just bought a heli with a Skookum. Now I got a fourth FBL to figer outz.

Curious, what tail servo are you using? Where in the sw did you change tail gain and what settings did you change to? And also, can you confirm you have the "set in software" box checked in panel 8?

Hitec 5085, setting is in software, gain 35, 360 main blades. Gain I tried every two increments down to 30 and up to 50.

Were you making tail gain adjustments in panel 8? Or advanced menu?

Not sure, I've slept but I think it was advanced.

If you use banks I would adjust tail gain in the advanced menu.

Have you had any crashes? It was working fine after you got the DX18/Ikon setup and just started acting weird out of the blue? Or have these issues been present all along? None of your symptoms sound Ikon related, assuming you have the correct servo type selected. May want to look over your tail and see if you have some binding in the movements or other issues. IMO.

If you remember several posters mentioned how bad my wiring looked so once I got it flying right I started working on that and I moved the iKon from up high behind the servos to the lower level just above the landing gear and slightly under the main shaft. It never had a crash and still flies well except for the tail movement.

So the tail problems started after you moved the Ikon? Not that I believe it may be your problem, but did you change its orientation?
