Default BeastX or Vbar for speed

Now I see comments on this on various threads but would like to know if possible from someone who has actually used both on the TDR for speed runs.

Before I spend more money I would like to hear from these people if any or just your opinions failing that

After the last vbar update (they did a specific patch for this), you can choose your flavor, now my 7hv don't pitch in high speed runs, even in strong winds anymore. Always thought it was the servos not taking the punishment of 200kmh+

You should also consider the HeliCommand X-Series. Mine are very stable at high speed.

SK540 seems to do very well as well.

Flown both and they both perform really well at speed, the BeastX had a slight unstable feel at speed compared to the VBar, but they both do well to keep the pitch up in check. Blades and setup plays a much greater part though.

have both, had vbar on tdr, now made way for beast, much better at very high speed, don't ask why banshee used beast and its not that they were sponsored its cheap enough.
vinger if your beast felt worse you didn't have it set up correctly. I know your a vbar fan and so am I , but before you tell me I didn't set my vbar up correctly I can assure you having used vbar since they came to market years ago I know all the ins and outs of the vbar. Also after I changed and my fellow tdr friends saw how stable it flew they changed as well. Just my opinion though.

Stolla is a big fan of BX for speed. I like it a lot too. Vbar 5.2 or previous is not nice at very high speed. 5.3 is decent. I feel a slight edge for BX for this specific application. Last weekend I setup my Voodoo 400 with BX and yet again, the tail pot 3 adjustment drives me crazy. Gain is as high as possible, stops are weak so I move pot 3 higher and I get better stops but faster acceleration too since there is no way of adjusting one separately from the other. I really hate that about BX. I give it that the little Voodoo was reaping the sky as stable as can be when doing fast passes.

Had vbar 5.1 on my speed machine for a long time and it has been very solid, even at over 290 km/h. Upgraded to 5.3 but have yet to fly it.

Really love vbar for 3D, it has excellent control.

yeah i have gt5 too but its still way beyond in a lot of aspects, for 3 d ill take the vbar, speed beast, for a dedicated high speed machine you don't need ask the bells and whistles like vbar gov etc as you run flat out anyway. again just my opinion but reading around all these issues with sudden crashes, pitch ups etc on tdr's all vbars, but as the op wanted to know who used both on tdr, I did 2 tdr's on vbar both now on beast, and yes I did try 5.3 but on my raptor e720 , still pitches up like crazy but its my smack machine so I don't mind

Care to share your Beast setup for speed TDR?

For those with bad pitch up, what cyclic and collective are you using? You need nearly as much cyclic as collective to maintain stability at speed. Say 12/15deg rather than 9/15.

Sure, keep in mind though that no 2 machines the same, different servo horn distance etc,etc also there are no accurate value on the pots either so unlike vbar you can't just share a file. Mostly I'm running default, all with transmitter option where available, tail headlock on high setting, transmitter adjustable gain, tail precomp high with powerful motor, make sure it compensates the right way, tail leading edge biting towards boom from midstick collective up or down.
No pitch boost, pot 3 increased, you'll have to find your own pot settings but don't mess with feed forward for speed.
If you have pitching, adjust pitching compensation par c.
On tx have 40% expo , if you want to increase agility up your dual rates to higher values than 100% this will increase the speed of the roll or flip rate, you can have different rates to simulate banks.
comparing with vbar biggest issue was to get tail dialled in for those 200 kmh backwards hurricanes.
Btw these are on microbeast not spektrum unit, I believe they are not running the exact same firmware at least not when I checked quite a while ago.
In the end you'll have to find what works for you though, don't expect it to be perfect within 2 flights.

Firmware is the same, spektrum call it 3.0 beastx call it 3.0.8 but the BX folks confirmed it was the same.

Thanks for all your answers.

I have the Vbar on the machine but will grab a Beastie and see how that performs.

A friend has just brought the HC so will also get to see how that is
