Default Failed Invert

Morning started out great! Was practicing some low inverted hover. Did well with first 2 packs. Put the 3rd in and after about 2 min's the bird got behind me. The result's are in the pic's.
Part's lists, Main shaft, Feather shaft, Fly bar, Elev Servo arm and linkage, Main blade grips,Seesaw, Skids,Tail boom,Tail rotor shaft, and whatever else I come across during rebuild... Gotta love them MG servo gears!!!!
Total cost of new part's,,,,$61.80

Trying to learn forward flight in the snow last month, stripped 2 of the stock servos all replaced with mg65s and the new digital one for the tail.

Back flying this weekend. first time ive really had major repairs to do has taken me about 8 hours to fix and still need to sort out all the fine tuning.

Oh Well,

Until next week.

Default Tried to get to China directly!

Well today was a GREAT day in all, but alas a crash while doing the third loop of the day. I wasn't too low at first...but I didn't give pull out enough on positive during the inverted part, and drove it into the ground nose first!

Here are some links to the pics...not the best, taken with the cell camera...

Hmmm I think that's gonna stick now! Or many Tiny Tim?

It's really not that bad as you say. The worst is breaking the skid tabs on the frame...ugh.. Gonna try zip tieing the replacement set.

Here's the damage list:
-Main blades (11$) -Feather shaft (2$)
-Main shaft (4$) -Main Frame (9$) (Just the tabs)
-Bent Pushrods x3 (2$) -Broken Flybar Holder (4$)
-Bent Flybar (3$) -Stripped main gear (5$)
-Align Skids (9$) -Servo Horn (3$) -Lost ball joint (2$)

All in all about 55$ in damage yikes! That's my most expensive crash yet! At least I have most the parts!

Sorry, no pics, but yep, I burned it in today. Today was another nice spring day in Iowa. Mild wind, maybe 5mph. I braved out from under the tree I normally fly under and was out in the yard, been a good winter on the sim and I am feeling better about my skills I went good for 2 battery packs, just working off the winter rust. Recharged for flight 3 and while I was waiting I got to fiddling with the throttle curve, big mistake.

Pack 3, well, the throttle curves kinda messed with me, it ramped up faster than normal and when I tried to bring her back down I cut the throttle too much, lost blade pitch and burned it into the ground. Dinged the tail boom, shattered both blades (I think i picked up 20 pieces from the yard), bent the main shaft, bent the feathering shaft, broke both tail blades, snapped a tail support rod and broke one of the tail grips.

Not sure on final cost, cause I had everything hangin on the wall, except the tail blades. Oh well, like my sig says, "If you wanna live life by your own terms, you gotta be willing to crash an burn!!!"

Well here is how it went.
My son and I went flying this morn. my son went to take his 400 up and said it was acting strange , so I took over and brought it to a hover and started to trim it out when I think the DX6I started to flake out and I punched it in. OK no prob. I told him (my 10 year old son) you can just fly my 400 (the one in my sig. all blinged out ) and give it a beating like you do on the sim. As he flies ausome on the sim but is intimidated by the real one and will only hover his about a foot off the ground.

He proceeded to turn off TH wich puts my heli into gov mode wich he was doing just fine and spools the heli up, and I am waighting to see him just hover.
But to my suprize he jumps the heli to about 6 feet and hits stunt mode 1 wich I have set at 2600 rpm head speed takes off into FF and proceeds to pull back on colective and do his first loop on the real thing !

My son then finishes his loop facing away from him and the heli was starting to get a little far away (not extreamly far but if left on its present course it was going to be there soon) so I coached him to keep the tail in mind and try to bring it back closer. Mean wile our flying buddy whom I can hear back behind me kept saying ok take it from him a fe times. But I did not he was doing pretty good and keeping his head about him and not panicing.

Finaly he gave up trying to keep it tail in and bring it back because the tail kept blowing out ( CRAPPY STOCK GYRO AND TAIL SERVO the 401 and 3500G had gotten put in my new 500) and said ok dad take it by that point it was just far enough away to make oreintation dificult so I tried looping her to see wich way she was heading and thought I figured it out. Thats when it happend it tipped to the side and I dumb thumbed it down behind the dirt mound around the pond. When it went down I saw a peice of I geuss the blade fly up into the air and thought ok must of hit the ground WRONG ! After searching for a while we finaly saw a peice of the main blade floating by the shore thats when I knew my baby was at the bottom.

Tried to find it by way of cast nets with no luck . Will keep trying to fish it out and hopfully retrieve it and see what might be salvagable.

BUT THE 400 DON"T MAKE A GOOD BOAT!!!!!!! LOL

Well I didn't take any after photos after, but I smashed my Blade 400/H-500C today. Wasn't my brand new one, this one had about 15 batteries on in hover only ( Hovering figure 8's) I just finished up all the installation of the blade (no detail like decals and door glass and the like. I was too discusted after words and just drug it in and started tearing things apart. The body wasn't hardly scratched but the rotor system was totally wiped out down to the drive gear (Except the blades were undamaged) I tried the maiden flight from the grass so I wouldn't scuff the skids up. What a big mistake! Left front skid got caught in the grass I guess and the helicopter once light on the skids just rolled forward and to the left. I feel very let down so put it away for a while. Will try again later. At least I have some more spare parts!
Here it is just 30 minutes prior to test attempt:
