Default fun fly near akron ohio.. 9/9/2012

sunday 9/9/2012 there is a fun fly at the doylestown barnstormers flying club which i am a member of, it will probably be mostly air planes unless some of you guys show up, i still need to request the day off work so i can go..

there is no real address for this flying club so check out the GPS coordinates on the map for directions. and there are no good street signs once you get off the highway and nito town so using a gps may not be a bad idea to get there.

you must have a valid AMA card and fly safe to fly at the fun fly.

see attached flier for more details....

to get there you take 585 and get off on portage st. portage st will end shortly, at the stop sign you can only turn left or right. you make a left, you will quickly see a place called gale house lumber, its a old brownish redish building, you hang a right just before you reach that building, ( if you go over the railroad tracks you went to far).

next you will drive down the street a little ways and you will see a company called trusco and another set of railroad tracks, you make a right hand turn right before trusco and the tracks, if you pass the tracks you went too far.

next you will drive down the road a little and go around some sharp curves in the road ways you should see the flying field from the road, you need to make another right hand turn on a street that i dont know the name of and than you will see the drive way to the flying club.

like i said no street signs on most of the roads. i am about to go there now and ill look and see if any of those streets have street signs to make it easier to find.

will do, my bosses and the head boss are on vacation next week. i think there only out for a week, i dont have any vacation time but i am thinking i may get the day off if my excuse is good enough.. i am also trying to get a day or two off to go to ircha but that is not looking good.,

working weekends is a bummer.. especially when i dont have any vacation time wracked up yet...

so here are my directions, after driving to the fiend and paying attention, there are no street signs except for one..

so you take 585 to poratage st, you drive till it dead ends, than you make a left on another street called portage. you take a right on the first road right before gale house lumber, if you pass the railroad tracks you went to far, than u drive down that road and take the first right at the trusco building if you pass the railroad tracks you went to far, than you drive down that road around the curves for a few min ( the corn is getting high so you may not see the flying field but you may see some air craft in flight) .. and you take a right on the first road you come to. than you drive a few hundred feet and the drive way is right before you go over the bridge, its a long dirt drive with a old green rusty gate in front.. i am sure they will have some ballons or a sign out front or something.....

so its get off on portage, take the first left, than take the first right, than take the first right, than take the first right, than find the driveway..

awesome, i am looking forward to seeing you there. i plan to show up at 11am and i am expecting it to be a good time. lots of old guys there that fly planes and do at least some aerobatics and allot of younger guys too,

i am sure you hear the stories about the plankers hating helicopters. my club is not like that, they are excited when i show up, they love to watch me fly, and when a member i have not met yet sees me walking up with a helicopter they come over and ask, are you dan ?? and say they have heard all about me and cant wait to see me fly my helicopter.

so if you are a helicopter guy don't be scared to come to this fun fly.. this is a very, very helicopter friendly flying club.

I am going to try to get there right at 11am if i run behind for any reason ill be there by noon at the latest. It might be kind of cool out if that is the high temp for the day.

I will probably stay at the funfly till dark or till everyone packs up. Lots of days i ended up getting to the club at noon and staying till 9pm. there are Lots of really cool members at the club.
