Parts Replacement and Parts Upgrades (RCT 450)
I am working on a list of common replacement parts to build what I call an O-CRAP kit for my Sky Shark. (Crash Repair and Parts) Anyhow, I did the same thing for my Heli-Max and folks liked it.
I've already got a decent listing for rotors, LiPos and tail blades. What other common parts need to be replaced in the event of a crash? (I haven't crashed yet) I plan to put together a field repair kit once I get a good idea of what will break after a decent crash. I'm not looking to rebuild my heli from scratch. Just enough parts to get it flying again while in the field. Once I get a good sized list I'll make it available to anyone that would like it. Ted

Not RC-Tek numbers; I usually use the T-Rex equivalent parts due to LHS availability.

OK, then here are my typical replacement part numbers:
Main blades: Align HS1158-01 (325 Pro woodies) Tail blades: Align HS1208 or (preferred) K&B Dream Designs 4007, 4008, or 4009 Main shafts: Align HS1011-3 Feathering shafts: Align HS1003 Tail shafts: RC-Tek 450-2026 (three per package; all have preinstalled pinions) Booms: RC-Tek 450-2054 (Diablo) or 450-2055 (Sky-Shark) Fins: RC-Tek 450-2033 (Sky-Shark) or 450-2034 (Diablo) Main gears: RC-Tek 450-2038 (two per package; both have preinstalled one-way bearings) Cyclic servo arms (after replacing the servos' plastic gears w/ metal gears): depends on your servo Flybars: Align HS1184 (220mm) Struts: Gorilla Gear, standard profile I'll also add that I replaced the stock paddles with Gorilla Pro-grammable paddles. I've also attached the RC-Tek November price list, which has all the RC-Tek part numbers.

Thank you for the parts info. Just to give everone a heads up, I didn't buy a super computer and I didn't master CAD, but I did get the CAD program to work today. Now I have a parts breakdown, but I'm still looking for parts numbers. So the list goes on. Ted

I think I have enough parts info gathered to put the list out there. I want to say thank you to everyone that pointed me in a direction or provided me with parts info.
I have to throw this out there though. I have not ordered or tried out most of these parts. I got these parts numbers from vendors, RC Tek and folks hooking me up with their info. I highly encourage you to first take your business to RC Tek since they have provided us with a killer helicopter, this is their product and they are the subject experts and they deserve the respect and our business. Also, if you do go with a vendor other than RC Tek, you really should call them to verify that their parts will fit properly on your heli. You should work out any issues with the vendor. I hope this helps eveyone out. Until I figure out how to convert an excell spreadsheet and attach it to this forum send me a pm or email and I'll send the list to you. Ted

The main reason I typically use Align parts is because they're locally available, so I may only end up losing a few hours or one day instead of having to wait 2 days (3 if it's over a weekend) for parts to arrive. I will admit that RC-Tek parts such as main gears and tail shafts are really nice because they're typically a little less expensive than the equivalent Align parts and they can be installed on the bird straight out of the package instead of having to swap out one-way bearings or belt pinions.

If anyone's looking for a pretty complete parts list for RC Tek Sky Shark and Diablo let me know. I think I'm done for now.

Are Align tailshafts, PN HS1021-2, intercgangeable for the RC-Tek, PN 450-2280?

Sorry for the typo...
Align tailshaft PN should have been HS1021-3. |

As far as I know, yes. However, the RC-Tek shafts are superior IMO because they come as complete units instead of three shafts with only one pinion.

This may sound canned, but oh well........
I would prefer to make all my purchases through RC-TEK. I am a totally pleased customer. I placed an order on 11/18, a Sunday. This purchase totalled slightly over $100.00 I had questions regarding the parts that I needed, and in the process of asking, I messed up my account. Meanwhile, a firewall blocked some automated responses. The net result was that RC-TEK answered my questions. All my questions. In retrospect, some of my questions were... well.... stupid. I received 10 emails / responses from RC-TEK on a SUnday, after 8:00 P.M. for a $100.00 order. They earned my appreciation the hard way. The tailshafts are all that would keep me from flying tomorrow. I would like to get some from a LHS, and build a stock for ongoing repairs from RC-TEK. By the way, BUM, your recomendation weighed heavily in my decision to go with RC-TEK for the DIablo. Thank you. I really like the kit, and every dealing with RC-TEK has been positive. If this seems to anyone like a cheesy plug for RC-TEK , PM me. I will copy some of the correspondance. |

No, please don't misunderstand me. I totally agree with you. RC Tek has gone above and beyond for me as well. The purpose of this list is not to take anything away from RC Tek. I list the RC Tek part first on almost everything. If you went to the RC Tek Parts window now, there may only be a dozzen or so parts listed for the Diablo and Sky Shark. I tracked down a whole lot more. In addition to the RC Tek info I also listed Align and a few others. I highly encourage you to first take your business to RC Tek since they have provided us with a killer helicopter, this is their product and they are the subject experts and they deserve the respect and our business. I got a pm a few nights ago from RC Tek encouraging me to continue with the list. Ted

My biggest frustration with RC-Tek is that I can't just go to their online store and order everything I need because they've been negligent in getting the site updated with a full catalog of parts. Everything has to be done via e-mail and PM.
