Take it from anywhere on the boom, most drill a tiny hole between the boom clamps, then run it to 1 of the motor mount bolts, check continuity and your done.

Here's some food for though guys.
The idler puller with tensioner is conductive. And with the tensioner always touches the belt. I have continuity between the motor mount and idler pulley so I have no installed the grounding kit.

This is exactly what I was thinking, but then began thinking it wasn't actually the static from the belt we worry about, but the boom itself? I'm open to suggestions and would like more opinions on your idea, I don't have any logging abilities so cannot try and measure the static hits. If you are right I'll do it this way next boom I install, it will be a lot cleaner and simpler.

Now that I think about it actually. You may be right. I am not seeing issues in my logs. May ground it when I have some time.

I just took some pics of my 7HV grounding. First 3 pictures in this album with notations below.

Mine has no ground, just silicon spray on the belt and I have no issues. Mine is flying really well now the phasing is sorted.

I almost got taken out on my first 7HV's maiden by a static hit. That incident had the classic checksum errors in VBAR log and it almost dove into the dirt when it happened ( I mistakenly thought the boom mounts were metal and was grounded only by a boom bolt to the motor mount=NOT grounded). It was cold and dry out when that happened, but it is easy to safeguard against static.

I take every precaution now to make sure that never happens again (silicone lube on belt and main gears, ground wire that is loc-tited and shoe gooed into place).

Thanks again Pete for the head phasing tip.

I've had the BEST time with my 6HV and 7HV's since your FBL arm fix! They all fly perfectly now.
