The align slanted gears are actually weaker than the microheli straight cuts. I can toast a set of them just spooling up with my current setup.

What I did was reinforce the motor mount side plates and slotted the carbonfibre mount holes so they were longer. Then I undercut the forward servo mount where the motor wires get crimped. This way I could move the motor forward. But, the motor wires still really get cramped. Which is why I went with Deftronics 450 pro battery mount idea. I just undercut the ends slightly and have tons of room for the motor now.

As far as the custom motor mount. I ran an aluminum plate right on top of the old one after I sanded off all the anodization. I bonded them together with Arctic silver heat sync compound. That stuff is like welding them together permanently. Then carved out a channel for the motor wire. The whole project took maybe an evening to do.

Do you have any picture or link to better understand the battery/motor wires mod?

I supposed that the slanted gears would have been stronger. M=0.6

There have been quite a few debates over this. But we even had a top F1 mechanic come in and post that straight cut gears are far stronger. But the slanted gears run quieter. I can only speak from my own experience. But I also understand the straight cut argument from the mechanical world also. Every single racing tranny out there that can handle anything over 600hp on an automobile runs straight cuts. Same as motorcycle drag racing.

The guys that push the slanted gears mistakenly believe the entire length of the slanted gear is fully engaged. But truth is only part of the gear is engaged as both gears are round. So only in the exact middle is it fully engaged and strong, during the entry and exit the gear is only partially engaged. So it is as much as 50% weaker when you measure the actual gear face that is engaged, except in ultra wide gears that take this into account and still provide the same structural gear interface.

Yes, I definitely wasn't the first one doing this for sure! Mine just drop in through the frame farther to fit the kind of canopies I like to run.
