Question Antenna Mod Dx8 Rx

Dx8 and Rx.
I want to change out the antenna on one of my Rx (4 total+10 sats).
I have the new antenna but its length is different than the original. Now antenna length maybe important.
?But do I measure the old broken antenna and cut the new one to length or do just test the new antenna that is almost 2x the length of the original?
With all that said:
?Has any tried to shorten or lengthen Rx antenna length to improve performance?
When I measure and cut the old to new antenna lengths.
?What is the Antenna Length Tolerances?

Antenna length is critical.Changing its length will not increase its performance. Also dont confuse a simple antenna with a coax lead having the active portion at the tip.Unless you have some mad micro soldering skills your likely not going to get a coax lead soldered correctly.

Cool News

No magic involved in the lenght of the shielded cable. It just serves to move the active part of the antenna away from the RX.
Nothing else
Antenna Cable:
UV Resistant Polyethylene Jacket
Metallic RF Shielding (protects signal from outside interference)
Dielectric Insulator
Center Core
Antenna:
Exposed Dielectric Insulator and Center Core
Ok
RC Antenna's are the section of exposed dielectric Insulator and Center Core.(outter braded shield removed)
So

Antenna Length Tolerances
I still need to know what are the tolerances of the short section of antenna cable that has the braiding removed.
