My point is the 25mm tail. Only KDS makes it in 550 or logo 500 size. That is what I have on mine.

I'm not sure I follow. I have a Logo600 airframe coming that I plan to cut down and put mod7 gearing on.

Did you goto the link of my build? If you did you would know what I was talking about. Mine is a 600 with the SX head. I used the mod 1 gears and just got the right motor for it. 4025 730kv on six cells and a 14t pinion.
Here is a pic next to a logo 500

I couldn't get past the first page of your build thread, too much flaming/bashing/off-topic comments. I also don't know what you mean by, "Only KDS makes it in 550 or logo 500 size."

Same here. No idea what he was trying to say and that thread on RCG is a mess.

Wow lots of bashing right here. Sorry about my thread, people over there seem to be a lot more friendly. The KDS uses 25mm booms for all their helicopters from 550-700. The 550 boom is the exact same length as the logo 500, but it is 25mm around. That will fit the Logo 600 tail mount. As a bonus you get two for $7.95
I just re-read the first page of that thread and it is funny. What you had there was two of my friends trying to defend me against each other lol! It's funny how things can get out of hand.

Ahh. I already have a 600 boom that I cut to 500se size so, I figured I would just cut it down some more.

The used Logo600 showed up the other day. I looked it over and I didn't really see anything alarming so...
I ordered some JR Vibe 500e servo adapter plates to adapt from full size to mini servos and I also redrilled and cut my main shaft 0.5" shorter.

I really wish Mikado would make a scaled down version of the 500 frame for the 400.

I had forgotten about cubic wing loading, so I was running the numbers and now Mikado's model numbers make a little bit more sense to me. Based on my current weight estimates, on 600mm blades, it should fly just a touch lighter than a 600se.
I have to wonder how much weight I could shave off by using the 500 grips/feathering shaft. My 500 canopy should be here today or tomorrow but right now it looks like I might not have enough weight up front to be able to support a 500se length tail boom. However, I'm not sure how far I can hang my battery out the front inside a 500 canopy so these are really still guesses. I need to play with it more as parts arrive and adjust as I can. If I'm going to run it on 550s or smaller, I think I need to cut more weight.

Got the servos in the mail and started machining some mini to full size adapters. Individually they only weigh 1g so I'm only losing 8g of weight savings by using mini sized servos.

Yah but what is the weight difference between those mini servos and full size servos?

What target weight are you aiming for and with which battery?
My logo400se weighs about 2.3 kg with 6S 3300 cells and 473 mains I could a the stretch boom to run up to 553 mains. Where is the simulator you are talking about. I'd like to take a look. |

I'm looking at a final weight around 2500g with a 6s3300 in it. I'm hoping to hit 2400g. I wish Readyheli posted weights for their Edge blades. Right now, I'm still thinking either 550s or 520s. I'll probably try 550s first and see how she does.
I just hacked up one of the stock models on RealFlight G3.5 to have the right weight and such. I've had pretty good success at predicting real world flight characteristics using it in the past.

I got more parts in the mail today. Spent most of the evening fixing things and putting it together. Right now, with everything but blades it's at 2175g. I noticed that the Edge Rotorblades website has weights and 553s are ~100g each. So I'm projecting that I'll be at 2400g RTF since I still need to add some tape, heatshrink and a few other little bits.
I'm amazed at how light the Logo600 chassis can be built. I never would have guessed I would be within 100g of a Logo400 stretch weight. I might just have to find a Logo400 head cheap and some 470s to try.

I can't wait to stuff one of my friend's 6s5000s in this thing and see how long it will fly.

I think the 400 also had an aluminium spindle, but with the same dimensions are the 500 steel one. Which I have in my Logo400SE |
