Naza gain settings for dummies

I survived my first flight in F450 with default settings. I want to tune to my likings, but I don't even know what to look for. Can someone explain what a particular change in gain will do to flight characteristcs ?

higher gain, more locked in feeling, gain too high, it will oscillate/shake.

gain too low, it will feel mushy.

I flew 2 more battery packs today. I had all the settings as recommended in the Naza manual for the F450

pitch 150
roll 150
yaw 100
vertical 105
attitude pitch 150
attitude roll 150

I set up the flaps switch on my Dx6i to change all the settings to 20% higher values

Flying in Manual mode I don't think I saw a difference in the recommended settings to the +20% Should I try going higher on all settings until I see a problem, then back down a bit?

If I switched over to Attitude mode, I did have some oscillation. I was most noticeable when descending straight down. Should I try lowering the attitude gain values for my next flight? How much? 10, 15, 20% ?

Usually the oscillation when descending straight down is caused by dirty air and is common. In most cases the stock (DJI recommended) gains are good to go. I test my pitch and roll gains in atti mode by hovering my MR in front of me and flicking my Aileron and Elevator control sticks on the radio. By flicking I am giving sharp Aileron & Elevator stick inputs then letting the radio control sticks snap back to center position on their own. You will notice that the higher the gain the faster the MR will snap back to a level hover. To much gain it will snap back and oscillate to low it is slow and mushy return to level hover. I use 20% increments and fine adjust from their. I you want to see big differences in gain settings set the low gain to around 80 and the high gain to around 220 and you will see the very noticeable differences between to high and to low gains.

yaw 120
vertical 120
attitude pitch 120
attitude roll 120

Can someone explain the difference between basic and attitude gains? Would that be the behavior when in normal versus attitude mode? and does the GPS mode behavior follow attitude gain? thanks in advance
