Default Question

I fly a Mostro and a SAB 700 and 570.But lately the gaui formula has caught my eye .No one I know owns one so my question is How does that crown gear setup reliability wise work out. Around here it has a bad rep reguarding it being very easy to strip out .Thanks for some truthful answers

As long as you set the mesh properly, it's very reliable. Lots of people set it too loose and then go crazy with the tail, testing stops and reversals. If you set it so there is the least perceptible click, which uses shims at a thickness of 1.09mm - 1.13mm (ish and depending on your model), it will hold up nicely. In flight, I've never chipped a tooth. Now in crashes, I have.

Not sure about the Avant. The shims on the X7 go under the 2nd bearing support above the oneway assembly. This is how the mesh between the crown and torque tube drive gear is set.

+1 with Matt the x7 drive is extremely strong but it is very common for people to not set it correctly and leave it too loose
