Default 450L Dominator Vibration problems, lots of problems

Don't really know where to go with this thing now, from day one out of the box I had issues with the Gpro unit killing the align esc BEC circuit.
Got a 300x to learn on till I felt ready to fly the 450L.

Finally got it out and ready to fly and found a bent main shaft out of the box. Has a horrible vibration on spool up, will just about shake itself apart.

Put the new main shaft in and it seemed to be better.
Got her light on the skids and decided to spool down and move to a better lit area. On spool down it started to shake and flipped over hitting the main blades on the tail boom bending the boom.

Guess my question is has anyone seen this type of vibration in these.

It seems to have a resonance point that will shake it apart or off the skids
I'd really like to fly this at some point. It's never left the ground due to electroincs or this vibration.
I've ordered a new boom and feathering shaft just to make sure, still have another main shaft if I need it.

Could be that the main blades are to loose or are not tightened equally.

Tried tighter and looser, for the mains
Only thing I noticed is the inserts they sell for the main blade
Grips did not come with my helicopter

Also don't remember seeing those in the assembly instructions
Could those be the issue.

Also just in case how tight should the blades be
Have them set so they just start to fall under their own weight

It is important to get both blades tightened equally. What I do is hold the heli by the head (sideways) and give it a good shake. Both blades should drop a little when you do this and they should drop pretty evenly.

Thats pretty much how they are set. I've gotten the boom fixed and I'm going to give it a try again today.

I had vibration problem on 450l when I switched to carbon boom. The tail resonated with the tail grips and vibrated the tail fin. I switched back to aluminum boom and no more resonant vibration.

Found it. the main rotor housing "T" is bent by about 1.0 deg or the mainshaft hole in it is drilled incorrectly.
Thought it looked funny on run up but didn't want to believe that it was bent out of the box.
This thing has been a nightmare. from the Gpro unit to this now.
Time to order a new H45190 housing

I believe that is called the head block. Glad you found the culprit.

Kinda bites that I had to go thu all this on a brand new kit.
This is the first time I've had this kind of trouble out of an Align kit.

Would be nice if we had someone local that sold Align, They all seem to carry blade and e-flite and even then it's spotty if they carry parts for those too.

main blades out of balance ! lol it seems align does this because when I bought a 450 pro fbl the blades out of the kit it did the same exact thing just buy a new set and be done with it and oh when I called align and explained to them (because I didn't have a clue at the time) they actually had asked me if I had balanced the blades yet the shake was so bad it bent my main shaft or it was bent out of the box to not sure tho

but thinking back after I spoke with align I did randomly stick pieces of electrical tape on a blade to to see ok thats better or no that made it worse until i got it right and it stopped dancing around and spooled up or down smoothly

If this was a brand new kit you should contact the place you bought it from. They should replace the bad parts. Contact align if the place won't warranty that part.

Bought the kit about 5 months ago and stuck it aside till I got some time under my belt with the 300x.
I'll try where I bought it but when I was having trouble with the esc they pretty much pushed me off to Align.
Got the new part coming anyway. I really want to fly it. I love the setup for the Gpro.
Can't wait to see how it works.

Can you take a picture of the head block that you had the problem w? I'd like to see what the bend looks like.

You cant really see the bend, I had to find it by checking across the top of it with my pitch gauge.
Zeroed it in line with the tail boom then rotated the block 180 deg and it would show 1.0 deg angle.
Got the new one on it tonight and all is happy with it. Nice and
smooth now.
Measured it before I bolted it together and it showed 0 deg across it at both 0 and 180 deg rotation
Get to go fly it tomorrow evening.

I think that might just be from the tilt of the rotor head shaft. You can get those degree of differences from the heli not being perfectly level. So that might be the reason why your seeing a variation in pitches. Though it might just be me not understanding what your describing.

The new head block fixed it
What I was measuring wasn't pitch but checking to see if the
Head block was level
The new one when I zero across the top now reads 0 deg
Both ways old one would read 0 across the top
then rotate and it would read either 1 or -1 deg depending on what way it was oriented when I zeroed across it

Finally got to maiden the bird. All I can say is it was worth the wait.
It flies so much better than my smaller heli's. I feel like I'm actually flying this instead of chasing it around. Took a few min to get over the nerves of the bigger size and the noises the blades make over the smaller heli
