Open source flight simulator (not RC specific but it might work): FlightGear

I searched and found no mention of this simulator here to date.

I've known about this simulator for a while now. I've never played with it, but due to my recent interest in RC Helis, I decided to take another look at its capabilities.

There is no mention of support for RC models, but the Flight Dynamics models seem fairly flexible and there are a variety of airplane, helicopter and other bizarre models available.

It is open source, so someone with reasonable programming skills (or flight dynamics modeling skills perhaps) should be able to put together an RC heli model. I have no idea how accurate it would be though.

What do you guys think? Is it something that could be useful or do the current free RC simulators provide better flight dynamics for RC helis than FlightGear?

I'd be interested to hear comments from someone who is working on one of the free RC simulators as to how this compares.

Does anyone know any opensource flight simulators that are good?

Thos few R/C models I have found for flighgear, are they good? How good are they compared to other simulators? Is there more r/c models out there for flightgear?
