Cool,
Thanks... Any particular brand? I have an extra koolflightsystems 3-5 amp "Ultimate BEC" in my box. Will that really be adequate? Because I do have a Durallite complete separate battery regulator system which I KNOW would be overkill but very reliable. I'm just concerned about the extra weight.

Are most guys just running a separate BEC using the main flight pack?

Perfect! So it sounds like everyone is either using the stock BEC (built in the Align ESC) or a separate BEC when stepping with an after-market ESC. A completely separate system for the electronics is just too overkill (not to mention, heavy)!

Probably been answered before, but I have not found it. The average flyer, can expect how many recharges for a Trex 500 battery before it dies. I realize this is all realtive but an average would be helpful.

Default TREX 500 over heats on dual 2500 Evo lites

I recently have purchased a TREX 500 ESP, and built it as per Bob's excellent videos.

The stock BEC is configure as per the video on mid timing.

I am using a pair of Evo Lite 2500 3S 11.1v packs wired in series to get 22.2v out of them.

After performing some hovering in the garden, I landed the heli and noticed the motor was V hot. The BEC was V hot, and both of my batteries where V hot too.

The throttle curve was at around 80% at mid stick, and 90 at 3/4. I never went above these values as I was just hovering.

After I let the batteries cool down, I charged the first one fine, but the second said there was an open circuit while charging.

I have since used the battery in my 450, and charged it again without any problems.

Does anyone know why it got so hot in the first place?

Also does anyone else use this configuration with the packs?

Cheers in advance..

Scorpion 3026-1210 on 8s 2200mah, INSANE peaks 1700 watts!
Really really really insane, 12s and same motor or the 1000kv, peaks 2700 watts.

A HV gives more options, I use hv45 for the 8s, but it is no good for the 6s 1400.

compense=?

Isn't the CC HV-85 heavy compared to the CC80 ?? I think the HV-85 weighs in at 119g vs 60g for the CC80................

Excelent point! 60 grams worth of MAH in the battery would be much better served!

I imagine 6min would be a good starting point. Check how much you put back into the battery, try not to exceed 80% capacity discharge

Just thought I'd post my Flasher 500 power setup. This is the new version (100% T-Rex compatible) with the torque tube upgrade.

Motor: AKE ICECold 500R1700TF (1700kv)
Pinion: 13t
ESC: HobbyWing Platinum 80A
Battery: 1st run - 2x 3s 2150 Rhino 20C
2nd run 6s 2650 FlightMax 20C

ESC setup governed to 2675rpm. I haven't verified the RPM, I haven't got the optical sensor working.

The video is of the 2nd run.
