Default Gear Mesh on SG E12 Help

Hi Guys,

Ive done three flights with my SG E12 so far, and on the third flight stripped the main gear. The first two I just flew around got comfitable and dialed in the vbar. the third flight i started to do some hard 3d and the gear stripped.
How tight should the mesh be? piece of paper ok? and also should I run the gear in a few flights before doing hard 3d?

running a Kontronik set up with 65C packs, no shortage of power so im sure the gear needs to be set up perfectly.

Thanks in advance, any help will be awesome

Cheers

Strange! I just stripped a main gear too. I had many flights on mine but it was very hot outside - 100+ degrees. I think I might have had the mesh too tight. I wasn't flying 3D but doing a hard pull up at the beginning of an FAI flight.

I've loosened the mesh slightly but haven't flown since.

I should mention - This is the original main gear - flew it for nearly two years. 1 year on Nitro, converted to electric over the winter and flew many more flights before it mysteriously just failed. Nearly smooth - no teeth left to speak of. Just a shallow line at the depression between where the gears used to be.

Guys. That sure is strange. I've been flying my native E12 since February. I strictly fly it contest style with about 10.5 degrees of pitch. Almost all vertical climbs are at full stick. Haven't' had mine strip yet. I run mine with the smallest amount of backlash possible.

Hi guys,
I have fixed the problem, Im running a little bit of backlash and did some flights checking through them to see if the gear still had backlash when it was hot,
Ive done 20 packs with it now and going strong. I will post some vids soon

I am now testing the JR TAGS system so I will let you all know how I go with that

Hi,

I apply a little grease on all the gears of my E12 (and recently on my nitro SGs) It reduces gear noise and possibly helps reduce heat caused by friction.

Regards,
G
