If you have a camera with the onboard flash and it died, read this. It might fix it.

Well, it's shaky has a Jones'n Meth addict, but the color and resolution are great. I had to run it through Windows Movie Maker to reduce the size. The original was 428Megs for 7 minutes! So, a lot of resolution was lost going down to 55megs.

That's a cool POV ErichF. The shaking makes the video quality look bad though (or the file size reduction).

I took some video today with mine also on my 450. I just taped it to the bottom of the canopy. The video looks great. I also taped it to the top of the bill of my hat, but it was pointing too low and the helicopter is right above the camera's view through most of the flight. I'll have to try again tomorrow.

It's pretty cool though. Mine only lasted for 30 minutes of video. I don't know if the battery went dead or my 2Gb card filled up...

Man, I can't wait for mine to come in now.. I got the memory card for it already. I thought it was comeing from Hong Kong but it was from southern calif. I got it in 2 days... Now I play the waiting game for the camera.... Oh well..
How are you guys mounting them to your heli? I notice that some of them have no vibrations and others shake like a crack adict.. What's the hot setup here??

GOT IT! And it works just great! Amazed at the image quality and sound quality.. $15? Unreal.

But couldn't fly it today since I could not yet figure out how to attatch it to my 450... anyone have tips or photos?

I got a 1 gb card... a 1:30 movie is only 30 or so mb.. so wow! That's a lot of movie time for a cheap $9 MicroSD card.

To help others... when you are videoing... the is NO orange light on. It's all dark. Took me a while to figure that out.

i tinkered for a while with different damping methods. best way i've found so far is to rubberband some small CF rod between the skids, then rubberband the camera to those. i think most of the vibes could be absorbed by attaching to JUST the rubber bands. but, it did not feel like it would stay attached to the heli through 3D...though cruising around should be fine.

I do really like the view from the back horiz. stabilizer. but, i'm not sure what to do to get rid of the vibes..maybe a gel mount of some type? *shrug*

here's the video from the mount shown:

I just used some masking tape and taped it to the bottom of the canopy pointing forward. It held perfectly, and the tape easily comes off clean. (and the video was perfectly smooth) That was just a quick temporary thing though. I would like to figure something else out, but there isn't much room on the 450. I was also thinking about something running across the skids to hold it...Maybe I could mount strap it on the horizontal stab like in ErichF's video. I like the way it looks, but I don't know about the vibration.

Since I mounted it upside down on the heli, I had to flip the video 180º and do a mirror image on movie maker...so it would be the ideal to have it sitting right-side up if you can.

yeah, it seems the better videos come off electric models. I was being over-zealous to expect a decent video from the tail stab of a nitro model, even one as smooth as a Caliber 90.

More to come...

got mine! I'm really impressed what this thing does for the money! I got the model you have to supply your own memory card for. I have it velcro'ed to the horizontal tail fin, with a ziptie around it for good measure. now a bunch of the guys I fly with want one!

create a file called "tag.txt" and put it directly on the keychain (not in any subfolders). The contents of the file are.....

[date]
2009/11/23
11:30:00

there must be a space(invisible) after both the date AND time. Put that file on the camera, then disconnect from computer and turn the keychain on and off once. When you cycle the power the keychain will read the date and time, then delete the tag file. So when you're making the file set it a minute or two into the future to give yourself time to transfer the file and powercycle the keychain.

For a better explanation, and some info on some of the other keychain cameras floating around out there check this link http://www.curbsideinvestigator.com/...py-cam-review/

Got it..

"WEBCAM BUTTON TRICK - Start with the camera and LED off. Press and hold the mode button, then connect the USB cable. When the camera LED comes on, release the mode button. The first time you do the button trick the camera will install the driver and operate as a webcam. Thereafter it does not need to install the driver again."

Thanks for the link posted earlier..

Has anyone had the sound stop working on theirs? It worked the first time I used it, but not anymore.
