I am starting tests on a Punch R/C 120 Amp ESC on a Trex 700E.

Only four flights so far, but it is working well and remains barely warm after landing.

Ok, so where do you get the YGE or punch ESC's from. I saw EspritModel carries the YGE but does anyone else import it?

@tacoturbo,

Well I have been looking at the option of getting the kit without the ESC, might even like to get a kit without the servo's too, I have been eying some JR 8917's and an MKS servo for the tail so I might side step the CC ESC altogether but what to use in its place?

I understand what you are saying about CC and they should address this nuclear option they have with their ESC's but I am not above tweaking the damn ESC if I have to. I would rather not "tweak it" as mentioned but if I have no choice I will.

I have been flying the 8917's in mine (only four flights so far). Very nice servos, by the way.

I did 8 flights with new version of ICE 120HV. So far so good and it is barely warm after landing. I did exactly the same settings as on Castle Creations website.

I hit around 140A and no issue so far.

I have about 30 flights on my HV120 after my last one flamed out and havent had any problems yet (knock on wood). I wish I could find a Hobbywing in stock somewhere in the US and I wouldnt have to hold my breath everytime I fly.

What is the concensus, (if there is one), what are the best (top two) esc's for the 700e reguardless of price? A Hobbywing or Jive or...?

may I divert your attention to these post at rcGroup forum

http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1450849

same issue. very troubling.

currently using 120HV and keeping a close eye on it.

btw: CEO and President CC has responded on this forum however nothing constructive has been mentioned more like the blame game.
Typical user error responds which is pretty lame if you ask me.

one such responds from a rep was not use deans connector but rather bullet connector .
hmm come on now that certainly not the reasons.

Nice imagine that.... a product that works like it's designed to.

Now back to CC blameing the end users "Soap Opera" called CC Fires its a HOT ONE!

I can tell you one thing no CC for me with my new TDR build NO WAY! Jive 120HV for me please.

anyone ever thought of an in-line fuse? i am currently looking at a CC ESC for my Furion 450. makes me call into question the quality of all their products.

Ice50 if anyone was wondering.

it be interesting to find out from those who have had the 120 go up flames what there settings where.

was it set to fixed, governor mode or set rpm ?
where they using higher discharge C rate battery's (thunder power 65C perhaps)
did they length or shorten the esc wire's (shorter is fine longer not so much)

finding a common denominator certainly can help troubleshoot what has caused the flame out since CC has not given much feedback and may still be under the impression that these are isolated cases and not due to fault components .

I'm sure most the parts and caps on the current esc can be upgraded to higher quality but that would certainly make there price even higher.

I know in audio (high fidelity) you can buy a single cap for hundreds to thousand of dollars

Jive apparently have Japan made caps which give one reason why there esc are slight more expensive.

sorry for the double post but just received an email from a friend in japan.

well apparently 120HV is suffer similar issue with him and a few others.
After 100 flights 120HV started to shoot sparks and lucky he wasn't flying.

most japan pilots are using SPIN 99 / 125 ESC with zero problems.

He's a pilot with 20 years RC experience so I'm sure he knows what he's doing so you can certainly rule out user error.

luckily I'm not using any CC gear on my A machines.

No matter how badly an ESC is setup it shouldn't burst into flames! Sorry I know CC is trying to blame the end users but there are way too many fires with this product. Why are they not offering a fix or recall for the CC 120HV ESC’s now that’s the question.

Now up to 10 flights on the Punch R/C ESC-still only slightly warm when I land.

These will, at some point, be available from Nankin Hobby. They will be an option in the 7HV kits (some of the kits have been released and include these ESC's).
