Default Tarot t-2d handheld camera gimbal

Ok so I have a Tarot T-2d brushless gimbal that I use with my GoPro. I made a little handheld rig that holds the gimbal assembly to film various stuff with.

What I want to do is....mount a joystick on the rig to control the tilt function of the gimbal so that when I'm filming, I can adjust the angle of the camera via joystick.

Not sure how I would wire it. Do I need to strap a receiver to the rig too or is there an easier way?

I do not know the answer to your question. I am impressed as all get-out with the Servo City site, though.

I always understood gimbal system such as this used a controller of some type. A device separate of the receiver. Powered, my understanding of the operation was the controller managed a positioning of the servos. The receiver inputs did nothing other than adjust the specific direction in which the gimbal points. That is, other than power, why would you need a receiver?

Technically, I have no clue.

that link is for just a pot (potentiometer)

you don't need an rx, the gimbal needs a pwm signal to control the pitch. So you'd need something like this, and you have to power everything.

basically you could use a servo tester, it outputs a pwm signal. Or if you're in the tinkering mood you could make your own with an arduino really easy.
