Why does the whole 5v/beastx brown out issue effect the 450x so much and doesn't (as far as I know) get a mention in the 300x section... I'm assuming the 300x esc puts out the same bec voltage as the 450 esc due to them both supplying the same stock servo's.

The 450X is considerably heavier and more powerful, yet it uses the same servos as the 300X. Because of that, the servos work harder in flight and draw more power.

Ok so I bought my 450x about a month ago and did not immediately replace the stock servos, despite being warned. Here are my conclusions and recommendations to anyone new to the 450x:

- Stop flying it immediately.
- check your servo throws to make sure you're not hitting the canopy mounts (elevator)
- find someone else with a 450x and sell your stock servos to them
- upgrade to one of the many better servo combos recommended in this subforum
- install fbl turnbuckle links for accurate/easy pitch setup
- install the aluminum tail boom servo mounts (use loctite!)
- paint or purchase fluorescent tail fins and props
- replace the landing skids with trex 500s

Or --
just buy a different heli.

If I had it to do all over again with the knowledge I have now I would still have a 450x, but I'd have bought it used and done the above plus a scorpion motor and an upgraded esc + bec.

my .02

edit:

oh and - ca the canopy grommets to the canopy, if you're sticking with the stock variety

Also, buy a second set of metal tail servo holders, cut off the arm on one and jam it up against the back of the frame and lock it down. Never worry about the boom slipping and losing belt tension ever again.

Throw the stock battery charger in the garbage can! Buy something good. Mine smoked on like the fourth battery charge.

Confucius say "Never charge a battery with a charger that's worth less than one of the batteries it's charging."

Buy the Blade aluminum carry case, its worth every penny of the 60 bucks. Then cut away some of the foam inside like i did and you can put like 6 batteries in the case. One handed transport for everything.
