Default Quality insulation paper

Hi

I'm still struggling to get my hands on some good insulation paper.

I could see in the Scorpion motors I dismantled they use a paper with a kind of laminated side to it which is much better and stronger than the EBay one which is only nomex.

If anyone could point me to a source it would be most helpful. This has caused me many rewinds lately of the same teeth due to paper weakness.

Even a brand would be helpful so I can search the source myself.

Thank you guys

Omer

Nomex-mylar or a similar product is probably what you are looking for. Here is the information with thickness charts and specifications included.

Thank you for the links. Got a bit lost:
Nomex Mylar is certainly what I'm looking for. The thing is in the PDF you have sent I can't see it - I see other materials or maybe different (chemical?) names for the materials used. So which is the one?

Second - what do you guys think should be the thickness of each layers? Assuming 5 mil for example will you use 1/4, 2/3, 3/2??

Again thanks for all the help

Sorry bud, I can't help. I just thought I would spend a little time googling, and see if I could find what you were looking for, and came up with that link, but I haven't used them, and nor do I even claim to understand what I'm looking at. I was hoping when you saw it you might know what was what.

I knew you would have looked too, but I just thought it might be worth having a google in a slightly different way. You never know if just one key word can change the outcome on a hard to find item.

Hopefully 1BOHO knows more about the stuff he linked.

I thank you for the effort. You were correct it is what I meant and I have also found it in the past. It looks to me like one of the good brands as well.

i hope some of the links 1Boho sent will guide me to a supplier where I can by low quantity at a fair price because the product itself is between 5-7 $ p/sheet. Problem is usually the shipment.

But then I got lost between all the different types there, so first I need to decide which is the appropriate one. I will write my findings when have them. I have a burned Scorp Ultimate which I can check when I dismantle.

I'd go a thin as possible to save space for wire while still meeting your thermal requirements. I'd think 180* Celsius would be good. The other option is to measure the scorpion paper thickness to get an idea. Somewhere in the links it shows regional suppliers that you can contact with your needs. If I find it I will repost it. I think EIS is one of them and it is in Atlanta Georgia.

The scorpion material actually strikes me more as laminated polyester felt. It seems to be different from "NOMEX" paper I have used in texture and appearance.

Yep I intend to go threw the suppliers and see if I can get one of them to send me some.
I plan to measure the paper in the scorpion I have and then decide, although I can already see that in the thickness range we are aiming for the range is limited so I might not really have the choice.

Brocott paper is good. A lot of people in this forum buy from them but it's are a bit expensive. I have not bought from them for years.
