Only one I know of is to give the blades a spin by hand, the kick isn't so hard if you take off from grass

Right, I just read the V4 manuals, it seems that all governor settings have no effect with Heli Linear mode. Any VBar setting to make the kick not as harsh? Or anything?

It almost sounds like bumping up Start-up Time option should do the trick, since in Heli Linear mode the ESC _should_ let its internal governor handle the startup.

The current "fix" is to run heli linear and disable AFW on the V4 stuff. Not sure on yours. This stuff is discussed is the HW forum at length.

Their is a setting in vbar I think it spool up rate. I changed mine on vbar from 3 to 2 solved it for me on hobbywing 60a v4

So I had a chance to test this setting change to eliminate the tail kick on start up.

This is with a HW 200 V4 & V-Bar NEO running pro & rescue.

I turned OFF Active Freewheeling and lowered the NEO spool up from 3 to 2.

It did help but there was still a 90 degree tail spin on a hardwood floor. For reference, the spin used to be 180+ degrees so the change did help.

I did NOT lower the V-Control "Low Limit - Motor off" from 0 to -15 though so I'll try that next.

Might try using 1 also. No problems with my 60a v4 but talking different amounts of torque also. I actually set mine back to 3 with a slight 10 degree kick so it would spool up faster. Will see soon when my neo gets here for my protos max. Have a 130hv v4 on it.

That's the other thing I have to take into consideration. I have autorotation bail out and I think changing that spool up setting will affect how fast the heli spools back up auto bail out.

Normally, it goes from 20% to set HS within 3-4 seconds.

That said, I will try the spoolup setting at 1 just to see how it is.

Yes, I'm using heli linear.

I have seen a few posts of guys having luck in airplane mode but it seems like the vast majority say heli linear is what works.

The only 2 things left to try are:

1) lower the NEO spoolup from 2 to 1

2) lower the Low Limit Motor off on V-Control from 0 to -15

If neither of those work, I'll have live with the kick until Hobbywing comes out with a firmware upgrade that finally fixes the issue.

If they don't, I will be looking at the new Scorp.

I lost hope that this will ever happen. The topic was discussed over and over for a while, yet there is no official word from HW.

I did maiden today hobbywing 130 v4 scorpion 4525-520 in protos max. Hobbywing settings lvc disabled, afw off, heli linear.

First spoolup with vbar neo had tail kick with neo spoolup at 3. Lowered to 2 and kick went away. Hobbywing throttle endpoint set with other esc in vcontrol 100 -100.

I'm curious (just to try to gauge the severity) was your heli on grass or blacktop/cement?

My test was on a shiny, smooth, waxed hardwood (indoor) basketball court. The heli does not have rubber skid nuts.

That combination makes it about as slippery as it can get.

I'm pretty sure if I was on grass, I would have much less, if any kick on the 2 setting.

I was on a paved runway. Also at spool up rate of 2 getting to full headspeed was noticeably longer than my castle was.

Ok.

I don't plan on any testing for a few weeks (still cold, 4+ inches of snow) but as soon as it gets nice again, I'll try the other setting(s).

So I was finally able to try the lower NEO spoolup setting of 2 on grass.

There wasn't enough torque to spin the heli.

I haven't tried autorotation bail-out to see how the setting of 2 effects the rapid spoolup but if it's not too bad, think I can live with it at 2. I did NOT change the throttle value to -15 as some have done. I'm not sure what difference it would make.

That said, I'd still like to see Hobbywing release a firmware update that solves it.

I heard their might be a new update but haven't checked myself. More than likely doesn't address the issue though or we might have heard about it already.
