Default 230s v Accurc

---- I am a beginner at flying RC helis and I am using the Accurc simulator as my first learning step. I am trying to determine when I will be ready to purchase and fly a Blade 230s in the Stability mode. I am using gyro stability gain in the simulator and there appears to be a huge difference in going from a stability gain of 10% to 0%. Is that realistic? Is the gain linear from 0 to 100%?

I am not sure anyone will have opinions to that detail level and I suspect being prepared with no (0%) stability will have me ready for the 230s but wanted to solicit inputs on that.

Thanks for any guidance. ---

Not sure about the stability gains question but I think the answer to your main question; "when will I be ready?" is anytime when you have the basics down in the sim. If you can manage a tail-in hover in the sim, take off and land consistently and without incident, then you can do the same in real life.

The sim will not feel anything like the 230S in real life because all of the models in the sim are much bigger (even the sims that actually try to model the 230S feel nothing like it) but the 230S is an easy heli to fly and is quite stable and mild. Don't get hung up with the stability thing.

Use the sim to develop muscle memory and for orientation training at this stage. Always stay a few steps ahead in the sim before trying it in real life and you'll be ok. As you start to get the basics down, use the sim to develop onto the next stage before trying it in real life.

Thanks Mark! That sounds like excellent advice.

Pick up a V977 or K110. They do not break if you fly over grass. When you can fly one of those, you'll do fine with something bigger. They are a ton of fun too.
