Default What happened to my glowplug?

Last week I installed a Enya 3 glowplug in my OS50. I did this since I run only 10% nitro and wanted a hotter plug then the OS8.

Today after a few tanks the engine stopped and the glowplug looked like this. Totally black and the wire has melted. What could have casued this?

This is almost always caused by a lean run/overheating. When the engine is tuned properly, the plug will have a light brown color.

Enya makes the best plugs on the market, IMHO. I run Enya 3, 4, and 5 plugs in all of my nitros - never had any plug related problems.

As mentioned, lean run, or detonation. I used to see this a lot in pylon motors running too much compression for the nitro.
