10 minutes is pretty good.... my advice, just get more batteries.
Sure, you can get larger packs, and you can lower the head-speed, and you can even start with a heli on the lighter side.... but no matter how you cut it, longer flight time affects performance adversely, so your buddy (the end user) needs to find himself a happy median between flight time and performance, and the only way to do that is to try. My Fusion 50(12s) can fly from 5 to 12 minutes using the same 6s 3700mah (x2) packs... the flight time directly depends on my headspeed, and the type of flying i am doing. I can sit there shooting autos for 20 minutes with the same pack. What heli does your buddy own?

Most any heli can get longer run time..just lower the head speed.
I got 14 minutes on a 7HV at 1400 rpm with 12s 5300mAH. I think there are some forum members who really push the limits of low head speed and long flight times. I don't have any names, but it shouldn't be too difficult to do a search.
