Battery update?
Guys, been away for a year - and I need new batteries for my mild B/L Nano. I'm after the most umph for the buck - what should I get?
Burst/power is more important for me than long flight time. And we all know the stated C-ratings normally is just BS... So what would you guys recommend? (I'd prefer to know from someone who has actually tried and compared the alternatives. Not like "I have one type, and they are great") I've ordered 200mAh Micro Helis and 205 mAh MyLipos so far now. Cheers

One more thing: What charge rate can they take?
I remember from "last time" that you bet better performance with higher amp charge - but their life is then shortened. What is best practise here? 1C? 2C? Cheers

I go for 2c to be on the safe side. I'm never in so much of a hurry.
I also prefer to use a balance cable in case my batteries have consumed different amounts of mah

Here's the Oversky 200 35C's...
http://www.overskyrc.com/200mah-37v-...ery-p-377.html Charging a 1S battery in parallel will make all the batteries connected equal in voltage...using a balance cable assembly simply treats each battery as a separate cell...which is what they are in the first place 1S batteries will always vary in the amount of mAh's they need to get to full charge...but the weakest battery gets preference until the voltage is equal...which is why it doesn't matter what the mAh capacity is...as long as all are the same cell count they will charge evenly So balancing is automatic regardless of the method used I usually connect all the batteries I'm charging to the parallel board, and let them sit for a minute or two...while they are all connected, the balance is achieved before the charge starts It becomes apparent when charging 2S and above and you have multiple batteries connected to a paraboard...then each cell gets balanced as the charge progresses...the balance feature simply separates all cells and charges them as if they were a separate 3.7v cell |

I remember the massive improvement for the BL mCPx when going from stock batteries to the 550 mAh Hyperions... Charge rate guys?

1S batteries should be able to handle 3C fairly well...but lifetime of the battery will most likely be shortened if you make it a habit
Much better time/$$ wise to get enough batteries so you can fly continuously while you charge at no more than 2C My guess is that 6-8 1S of any particular size should be plenty to keep you flying |

I just noticed your signature...wanna see how well you can stay "up on the sticks" ??
Try a pair of 130X main blades on your mCPX HP06...but be careful... They've been known to tear holes in the ozone layer |

I already tried the mCPx BL blades (I guess the 130X has even bigger, never had one), but not so sure if I liked it. Anyway the plan is to "resurrect" the Nanos first then the mCPx'es

Just make sure you keep the vibrations under control with the HP06 w/V2 board...they can be a pain |

Only run one flight per battery through them so far, so not exactly an exhaustive test!

If those were My batteries...I'd take at least 30 seconds off the timer
Not good to run them lower than 3.8v |

+1
there is no point pushing the flying time. Buy a few more batteries and run them for 5 mins each. They will last much better. Mine are at 3.8V to 3.9V after a flight.

My findings
Here's my findings as to the power delivered. I rank them from 1=best and down: 1) MyLipo 2) MiniAviation 3) MicroHeli 4) Oversky Note that the MyLipos are a bit longer, but same thickness as stock. The MiniAviations are a bit thicker = a bit hard to get into the battery mount. The MiLipos are clearly IMO the best option. You also get perfect COG. I use them now with the brushed MMW motor on a 8T pinion - flies very very good for 4:30!
