Default Xtreme Direct Drive Problems

I recently had a stellar tail landing that resulted in breaking the original tail motor, since I had a xtreme direct drive motor in case of this type of emergency I went ahead and installed it per Viet Lama's helpful hints. The problem is that when I try to power up the motor it does not want to spin unless I give it some help and once it's going it doesn't work in helping to counter the main motor. So do I have a fried 4 in 1 or a bad motor ? anyone have this happen to them ?
Suggestions welcome

thanks

Pull the main motor plug out from the 4in1 and plug the tail motor into the main motor out put on the 4in1. Keep the main motor unplugged and hold the skids with one hand and spin the helicopter up. If the tail motor has plenty of power than your tail esc in the 4in1 is toast. If the motor is still weak…its probably bad.

Tail esc is broken, I had no idea that there were two separate esc's in there and figured that it was all part of one circuit. Lesson learned, will try to salvage the 4-in-1. Thanks Helihankster.

Yes, keep the 4in1. You could use the mosfets in the future if your solder savvy or at least the RX portion in case yours goes bonkers.
