Cap pack mounting?
Has anyone used short wires to attach there cap packs onto there esc battery feed lines? I am trying to fit my new Ice2 120HV and there is no way I can fit the cap pack like castle want's.I was thinking of laying it sidways under my frt tray.It would require about 2" leads.Anyone done this or any thoughts?

You only need the extra caps if your ripple of over 5% of total voltage. If you wires are nice and short you probably don’t need the cap pack.

Yes I know that but my wires end up about 14" long and was asking about mounting the cap pac with some short wires as I have no room to mount as Castle recommends.

I would expect that the exact location is not that important. The data logger will tell you what you need to know.

^not true... it should be as close to the ESC as physically possible.
Here is how I had mine (on my Fusion 50) before I redid my wiring scheme.

Closeness is dependent on the gauge of wire you are using. If you were mounting the cap pack elsewhere, try using equally thick (as the battery/ESC) gauge or larger wires to the cap pack. Smaller wires will make the cap pack dead weight for the most part.

I have a receiver pack mounted where the cap pack should go. Any other ideas on how to accomplish the installation of the cap pack on the F50 when using a receiver pack?

Well I ended up using some short wires and tapped in where I would have normally mounted the cap pack. The wires are 1.5" long and the cp pack is mounted below the esc sideways..In the picture of te fusion the wires could be shortened up alot. This is not a great picture of the cappack but you will get the idea of what I have done.

I have made many flights on the heli now.I finally downloaded some logs and my ripple had a high of .59 v and a average of .30 v on a 10s setup.

I mounted my cap pack above the ESC, just turn it upside down so the caps are on the top of the wires and ESC. THen they are nice and close with no extra wire and take up almost no room.

Good idea but I am very happy with how mine works and it is down out of the way.I looked and do not know if my canopy would clear with them on top but it is a good idea to remember.Take care.
