Default Why does one heli take to long to initialize?

Same setup on 3 helis.... SK540s powered by Jive BECs with 2 dsmx satellites on each.

Two helis initialize and pump immediately... every time.

One (Goblin) takes 10-45 seconds.. just sitting there... every time... wait.. wait... THEN the beeps and pumps come.

Ideas?

The Goblin is jinxed. You should send it to me to inhibit any bad mojo in the future.

Hey, I do what I can if I see a friend in need. No thanks necessary. Just don't forget the extra packs and spares.

Seriously though, I don't have an answer. It does it every single time? I know when I had Vbars that would happen maybe one out of 10 - 20 power ups but it wasn't consistent and couldn't duplicate if I tried.
Have you tried putting the collective in different spots when you power up? TH on and/or TH off?

yeah.. every single time.. for all helis. Really odd. I'll try the collective thing.. but I need TH on for all helis since I don't have a normal mode.

but you don't need a Norm mode to power up with TH off. Remember grasshopper, the esc will not arm until it sees 0 throttle. I do it all the time by accident. So it's not like it would spool up or anything. Unless of course you have your failsafes set some weird way.

Do you mean set TH to off.. and plug it in.. and then turn TH on (0 throttle) and see what happens? I still don't know why the other two work every time.. same flight mode situation.

I know that with TH off things just wait in limbo until I turn TH on.. then I get the beeps.. with all the helis. TH off is around 40% on all 3 helis... flat curve. (I always love saying FLAT curve.. lol )

Hey,

I reckon that your Tx settings and procedure when powering the helis is the same, isn't it? So it cant be any differences in the Tx...

Had you any Telemetry or other 3rd component connected and bound to the Tx prior the problem?
I had once the same situation after I bound the DMX sats & the TM1000 telemetry with my DX8 and then just removed the TM1000. The binding process took ages.
I just did a rebind with no TM1000 and it was fast as ever...

So even if you didn't use a telemetry module just try to rebind the Tx & SK540 a couple of times and make sure both sats are bound...

Soko

I just hooked up my 2nd sk540 and it takes longer to initialize. My 700 DFC is almost instant when the swash moves, but my 500 takes maybe 10 sec or so before the swash jumps. Dont know what it is, but I am running very cheap servos on the 500.

Same exact setup on all 3 helis... same servos, no telemetry etc. Really curious. Next step is a few more re-binds... and if that doesn't make the Goblin connect faster, I'll swap out satellites.

The results will be interesting. Could it be the SK540? I wouldn't think so.. but the sats do go solid orange instantly on all 3 helis.

I think it's most likely to be hardware related being the SK540, Probably to do with how quick the individual sensors are powering up. Before I was a given a beta revision to test it was quite slow to boot up even on a good one but now it definitely seems faster. Art said it was something to do with the different sensors initializing at different speeds that caused the issue before.

So maybe I just have one slow SK540? It always works great.... it just takes the extra 15-20 seconds to connect and init.

I am right there with you. My fast 540 was just bought new from helidirect 2 weeks ago. The "slow" one was bought used on here, it works though so I am not worried about it.

Default Why does one heli take to long to initialize?

I paid attention to both of mine today and both take 5-7 seconds to twitch and get the green light.
