Just curious,

Has anyone modeled this machine?

Thanks!

Please excuse my lack of knowledge here, but what does 'modelling' mean in this sense (Solid works etc)?

Creating a 3D model of the TDR.

I haven't touched any of it since AutoCad 11 which is like the dark ages by todays standards. I actually played a bit with the Silicon Graphics Crimson and Indigo back when they were a player.

A friend Max from Germany has modeled one. I can contact him about it.

What were you planning to do with it

Strange question... wanna copy it?
If it's just for 3D than have a look at Heli-X, it uses OBJ. In case of accurate CAD data to use for CNC (...) it's not that nice to ask for that.

Ok, I looked this Solidworks up on YouTube, and can see what it is now.

My question is though, why would someone want that, unless they wanted to clone Jan's awesome work?

A 3d model is not necessarily an accurate manufacturing CAD drawing.
You can find a decent 3d model included with the 2009 manual but it's nowhere near a proper CAD, which would include tolerances, material specs etc.

Thank you, If you could get in touch with him that would be great. I am looking for accurate parts and not a "3d model"

I wish I was up to something as exciting as some of you posted here, but no, no real reason. I would like to have a copy, I have started doing it myself but I had a computer crash here and lost all of the files. I can tell you with certainty that I AM NOT CLONING THE TDR

I could think of quite a few fun things one could do with a 3D model like experiment with canopy shapes, landing gear etc. A model with accurate general dimensions without detailed dimensions of individual parts would suffice for that. A complete TDR in a 3D assembly file!! an enormous undertaking! I would not readily expect anyone to share that! That would be generous beyond believe!!
