Default cpx flybarless conversion underway

Hi guys,
Just returning to the hobby after a break of 18 months and really enjoying it. Bought a CPX for 100 quid all in from flea bay. Changed the blades out for pro carbons. This thing is great!!!! Flies like a demon!! The only issue is the loose head and the crappy transmitter. Idle up caught me by surprise a few times!!! The difference in pitch and head speed is huge. Must scare the shite out of a beginner!!!!
Anyway, I decided to convert it to flybarless as I had a beastx trex 450 before and loved it.
The build is complete. All I need to do now is test fly it. I'm planning to give out the details if there are any requests for it.
Basically I got the following items to do the conversion.(all from flea bay to keep costs down)
Dx6i transmitter
Hobby mate hb800 v2 based on beasts v2.0
Orange sattelite (yes the hobby mate does connect to a sattelite)
Copterx flybarless head (non dfc) complete with swashplate and links
Some key points
You need to use the esky main shaft. chop off 2mm from the top with a hacksaw for the copterx head to fit. (Use the trex 450 shaft that came with the head to size it up)
The links between the head and the swash are too long. You need to use swash to servo rods that came with the copterx head.
For connection to the swash, use the esky rods with copterx links on one end.
More into soon!!
Cheers

Looks great! It all works with those washout arms at that funky angle? So basically all you need to is trim 2mm off the Esky shaft and modded servo to swash arms, correct?

Yes that's pretty much what I did. Hovering it later so will report result. Also had to move swash slider to front. Its screwed in with hot melt just in case. Yes the angles are a bit odd. The head is designed for a 450 which has a longer shaft. Should be OK though!! Soon find out!

Pretty cool project. I'm curious to see how it works out too.

Just hovered it now. It's like night and day!!
What a difference from the old head!!!
Spooled her up and into a very stable hover.
No glitches or twitches. Superb!! Regarding the strange angles on the washout arms, I removed the blades, and spooled her up, switched to idle up, max speed, max pitch
Positive and negative. No problems with the links.
Next step-circuits!!! Can't wait!

Took the heli to the flying field this afternoon. It was very windy gusting around 15mph. It flew without a hitch. No bobbing at all. This is with stock settings on the hobby mate and dials at centre. I had a slight tail wag with gain set at 70%, so reduced it to 65% and it was fine. The rudder was a bit slow to respond on stall turns so needs dialing in but on the whole it was spot on!
Any questions on setup just ask.
